Not had this one before, my rear tyre is leaking air from between the tyre and rim. i have puncture seal in the tyre but all it is doing is slowing the leak down. there doesn't appear to be any damage to the rim and I can't remember banging the rear. the rim looks true and there are no dents, bike is only 3 1/2 years old so it isn't corrosion. Might be able to spin the tyre around and get it re sealed but not sure.
Any ideas?

Loosen tire and spin around.

lighter fluid inside the tyre and light it, should pop out with a bit of pressure

Take the valve core out and bung about 80-90psi in it as fast as you can with a compressor. See if this re-seats it on the rim.

I guess you've never seen what happens when a tyre blows off of its rim?

Ever done this yourself?

I tried the over inflation bit, well put 65lb into it but didn't want to do too much, Will probably get mechanic to reseal the wheel after spinning it around, see how that works.
It just seems odd that I have had had no trauma with the bike and did a trip around Scotland on it a few weeks ago with no incidents what so ever. To spring this leak is very odd.

i think,

if it works, well youve saved time and money and you have a new technique you can say you have used.

if it doesnt work, then it shouldnt cost too much more and/or you may be disabled...permanently.

probably best not to do it but if you want some excitement, then could be fun.

i have tried once and failed, i am going to try it on my next wheel/rim interface. Good phrase that is.
