Ok basically, I've been on my 500 for 3-4months now and want to get back on a 125(but still keep the 500). Mainly because they are cheaper for the run to college/work/girlfriends house. Also I think it would be more suitable for the winter.

I've found a Honda CG 125 20K miles On an R reg, and really fancy it just because they are bullet proof, it is 400£ and it would cost £120 to add it to my insurance.

Another thing I thought it could be useful for is just having it as a backup bike incase the 500 stops working etc.

Thankyou for your time in reading this, all advice and thoughts appreciated

Tim

Makes sense, though a smaller bike isn't always better over winter, I generally think 2 bikes is good thing for lots of reasons.
Don't expect CGs to be 'bullet proof', especially for £400, but then you'll have the other bike to use if there is any problems with it.

Yeah well i've been reading reviews on them and people seem to think they are unbreakable, its done 20k Miles which isnt bad considering when i sold my XR125L It had 18k on the clock

I am another fan of having more than one bike.

Some people to spend what they have on one bike, but if you spend the same money on two bikes, it means you don't compromise, as each does its job well.

Something thats good for one thing isnt necessarily good for another, so its nice to have two, and yeah the backup thing is good too.

Best thing about the CG125 is that it'll be pretty much depreciation-proof.

that seems a bit steep to me

id be tempted to leave it until ur policy is due for renewal, and then get a multibke policy. As the cg125 is lower insurance class than your 500, it shouldnt be much extra if at all.

Im 17 almost 18. The GPZ was 290£ to insure TP and that was the cheapest I found. When I had my XR 125 with 1years NCB it was £160 TP.

So I really don't think £120 is too steap.

Thanks for all your feedback so far guys Smile

I've got 2 bikes at the moment, don't know whether to keep them both when the new bike tax comes in though. I shall have to think hard if both bikes double in tax, especially as they're both leisure bikes and the tax'll be increasing on my car as well Evil or Very Mad

Whats this business about tax raising ?

I've thought more into it and I've decided to wait for a little while, i'm working extra shifts over the holidays so I'll probably have some money in the bank when the holidays are over so I'll look for a newer model.
