I had a quite busy plan for yesterday. I was going to finish stripping a bike that I'm breaking for spares and build up (Just needs tank/fairings putting on) one of my ZX7rs ready for sale.
Instead I woke up at about 11ish with the mother of all hangovers
So I thought I'd have a play about with some of my bike pics. I've seen people on here that have made the background B/W, with the bike looking very prominent in colour, and as my main bike is pretty bright to start with I thought this would look good.
I went on download.com and downloaded paint.NET and had a play about. Here are some results (Bear in mind I have absolutley no artistic bones in my body!)

It's a real shame I always seem to get a wheely bin in the background of my pics
I had a go with some more:

Then did some of my Eurotour pics (Somewhere In France):

After taking a break to read Itchys 2008 Eurotour, I noticed that his and R1_lad's bikes would lend themselves to this process very well:

I tried for /ages/ to get the magic wand to work. Tried with all sorts of tolerances and selecting loads of little bits whilst holding down Ctrl, but it always came out sh!te.
I basically open the image in paint.net, select all, copy, open a new doc, paste. Then set to work with the eraser, going all the way round whatever I want to leave in colour. When that's done, select all, and paste it into a new layer on top of the original pic.
Sounds like a longwinded process, but it doesn't take too long, and the results are much better than magic wand. The magic wand doesn't seem to me like it'll ever work properly for bikes, as there are too many colours/textures/shadows on a bike for it to recognise.

As I said, I've not got an artistic bone in my body, and I'm certainly no David Bailey. I was just messing about to see what was possible with the pics I had at my disposal. ____________________ Current: ZZR1400
