This may be a bit of a stupid question, but thought I'd ask anyway... I've recently moved and have to keep my CB500 outside. I've got an Oxford cover for it and I'm going to get my hands on some ACF-50 at some point so as far as I can see it should be fine, right?

However, I'm a bit reluctant to take it out in the wet (which is bloody annoying at the mo, seeing as it's wet all the time) because it's not easy that easy to wash the bike where it is now, so I don't want to get it wet and mucky. My question is, if I take it out and get it all wet and mucky does it matter? The muck presumably shouldn't be salty, so is there a problem if it doesn't get washed for a while?

Thanks Thumbs Up

i dont think any of my bikes have ever felt the warmth of a garage unless its snowing or something.

the only problems ive ever had resulting from this is that i keep crashing them.

Kept outside and not washed much it'll be cleaner than garaged and not washed much - because the rain will take a lot of it away.
I hardly bother in summer anyway since the salt isn't an issue.

Excellent, cheers guys Very Happy I don't really mind me getting wet, and I fancy getting my wet weather riding skills up a bit so if it's not gonna do the bike any harm then that's good news!

A guy on next road to me keeps his ZX7R out on the road all the time, with no cover on, it hasn't done his bike any harm.

Ah, but it's not all metal, there might've be bits made out of hobnob-esque material!

Better off without a cover as when you put a cover on a wet bike the bike will stay wet & wet + rust. No cover and the air can get to it and dry it out.

Not necessarily mate. The mid to top end bike covers are breathable as well as waterproof so your bike will dry out even if it is wet when you cover it.

I'm sure it will be fine outside. Mine lives outside with no cover, rain or snow!

Covers are also going to rub like sandpaper with the slightest bit of dirt on the paint.
Can help with security a bit though.

I only cover up my bike if it's dry. If it's been rained on, I just leave it outside uncovered. Quiet neighbourhood so there's no prying eyes. Shouldn't damage your bike if left out in the wet, my R6 survived 10k or so miles (starting from the beginning of winter last year) remarkably well.
