Registered addreses and stuff

Just thought today about my insurance and bikes registered address.

On my V5 document, my bike is registered in Winchester where I have now moved out of.
But my driving licence has my Halifax family address which is ok.

If I were to get a speeding fine, where would the NIP get sent? It's just that I look on the DVLA website and there is nothing mentioned about the address where the bike is registered. I did an enquiry on the bike and it never mentioned the address.
Then I searched about changing address and they said they'd send out a new licence. Do I need to even inform them then if my driving licence has the correct address? I can't find anything about changing the bike's registered address.

Another thing is my insurance. It's insured TPO in Winchester. I don't particularly want to tell them I've moved as they'll lump me with some stupid fee to do it. Does this mean that I'm effectively riding uninsured? Any post to my registered address would probably just get binned.
If I do have to tell them, which I reckon I will, will the location make my premium go up even if I'm just TPO? I'm not sure how location would affect me if I'm not going to claim if it's stolen.

doh! Just found my full V5 (was looking at an old one or something?) and it has a change in address section on it.

Well in theory everything should be registered to the address at which you are currently living. If you clock up a speeding ticket it will find you eventually, and if you have any need to claim on your insurance (if you whack someone) then they may start asking difficult questions about why your address suddenly differs to that which you declared originally. Whether you choose to make all of your documentation correct is your choice, but in the long run it is best to do so. Thumbs Up

I'm not trying to get out of anything. If I crash I wouldn't want to leave the other side in the middle of the proverbial shite.

I just can't be arsed with the £15 or so they'll charge me to change address. Got the V5 sorted - just need to send off the form now.

Infact, I was more scared of NOT getting a NIP and then getting buggered later on when they find out where I am.

Well how long is there left on the insurance policy. If its not that long then I would just leave it as it is and update it at renewal time.

NIP goes to the address of the reg mark, how are they meant to know who was driving/riding?

its free to change the address on a V5/V5C.

insurance may/will charge you to change, depending on the length remaining till dictate if you change it.

when i moved i change the bike address as i needed to change the reg plate too, cost £60 more as its a "worse" area. I opted at this point to not change the car, it only had about 2 months remaining so no biggy, one advantage for me though was that i was moving out of my parents 2nd house, so post wasn't a problem.

Yep, V5 so I would get that changed ASAP.

I had a NIP through and they sent me another note complaining about different registry addresses for that and insurance but I think it was just an excuse for a moan Laughing
