Arrow .... So I then decided to go out in the wet and have a bit of a hoon to test the new dunlop roadsmarts in the conditions which I normally ride in!

Edit: Prequel video - i had a problem converting the whole video into mpeg so had to split it into 2 files to make the rendering time smaller.

Arrow SCRUBBING IN THE TYRES ON THE A72 within 30 miles of leaving the workshop

End result....

After 75 miles and not even pushing it, this tyre LOVES to stick and inspire confidence.

Dunlop roadsmarts... A MUST for THE ALL ROUND SPORTSBIKE RIDER. I keep banging on about them, but if like me, your a daily commuter and love your weekend blasts, don't mind mixing it with the fast guys then this tyre is up your street...

Oh, I also end up doing up a busa pilot... WHY in the devil was he pottering and holding traffic up! Must be some forcefield of UGLY running about!

Busa rider with white helmet? Alarm bells ringing? Laughing

I had the same with new tyres today, fitted Pilot powers to replace my down-to the cord D208's, they're awesome in comparison, very inspiring.

That was my thoughts exactly. I had a long stare at the bike which was doing 60odd. Scoped about to see any substantial kit such as panniers or tankbag and then noticed he was just wearing jeans... so i pinned it lol! Sod's law it would be some fuddpiece of bacon!

I've managed to get the first half of the ride out compressed to 8 mins and will shortly be up!

How much was your video kit? I wanna record my trackday and short of taping my phone to the bike I can't think how to do it.

Chris, my kit is a cheap-arse ATC2k Cam that i got off ebay 2nd hand - 60 quid including a 2gb card which will record 30fps at 640 x 480 and has an hour. Please make sure that you try and get high speed memory... because my one lags a bit hence why it's a bit choppy. The video unit itself is about the size of the red bull cam and is installed onto the bike like so:

https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh313/Titot01/DSC00208.jpg

I some leccy tape to even out the surface

https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh313/Titot01/DSC00209.jpg

Put in the foam buffer... not enough, you need to pack so much into it so that you'd have difficulty clamping it and have to push down on the bolt in order to secure the nut.

https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh313/Titot01/DSC00210.jpg

Secured with gaffa tape - i redid it.. It's now solid onto the mirror

https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh313/Titot01/DSC00211.jpg

Leaving you able to slot in the camera and rotate etc.

You cant guarantee good pictures in the wet or where it's sheltered, i.e. tunnel of trees, contrast between light and dark, because the CMOS sensor cannot handle the sudden change in exposure unlike the CCD cameras (of which you'll be paying >£150 for). But for a toy, especially if you get all the gubbins with it on ebay, it's a cool thing to have.. I normally record my rides to see where i can improve... I THINK i'm a smooth rider, but i can only prove it to myself if i see myself ride from a post-ride-out perspective, which this does well. The randomness is just for personal humor, the metal/fast paced music just detracts from an otherwise normal ride from me by trying to emphasize the riding fast element.

In my opinion, for the road, keeping it smooth and planning ahead promotes fast riding.. i guess in all my videos, you can always hear me blipping the gears, getting into the right gear for the corners and powering out.

Anyway... most of my videos are done for humour purposes and I don't really ride dangerously at all (i think i've matured leaps and bounds since my crash and my old 250cc kamikazee attitude)

Does the card just go into cam or is there a separate recorder all the CCD's on ebay need exturnal recorders which is where it gets expensive.

Google ATC2k or go to www.webbikeworld.com and search for ATC2k and they'll give you an in-depth review of it. It runs on 2AA batteries (i use 2500mah rechargables and charge them every ride out but they run perfectly). The memory card slots just above the battery. SD cards. You need to ideally use 100mhz memory so that it doesn't buffer up the frames when you're going flat out. Other than that, it's a fun little toy.

In fact, here's the Webbikeworld like for you

Neat little toy eh?

Not bad, I might get one before my track day, The CCD camera can be picked up for £30 on ebay but the problem is fucking about trying to get a recorder which is at least £100, that little think look perfect.

Funnily enough, check out this month's RIDE magazine. They test rode a CBR600 F-S on Dunlop Qualifier RR's and the roadsmarts and found that the roadsmarts gave better feedback, smaller chickenstrips and better stability than the RR's! so for 80% of us out there who ride at 80%, its the ideal tyre for the road.. Won't be swapping tyres for another brand anytime soon.
