Thinking of getting one if it's small enough for a 50cc Vespa.
Details if you click here.

So just wondered if anyone had fitted one and what your impressions were.

I know it won't get me anything off the insurance as not on an approved list but just for peace of mind really.

So any feedback welcome. Thanks. Thumbs Up

I have one on my 636, not a bad alarm, the first version died but the second one they are now selling seems much more robust. At the end of the day its a deterrant as with most alarms and for the money it does its job well.

cheers

leigh Very Happy

I have one of these, £25 on ebay. Works well and has sensitivity settings which come in handy, aswell as a tilt sensor, good alarm overall.

Fitted loads, it does what it says it will do. Better than nothing.

Very easy to disarm so you need to have use some sense when fitting. The remote start ones make it possible to hot wire your bike in a couple of seconds.

Is this still the case if the remote start feature is not wired in? And is there anything I can do to make it harder to disarm?

None of this is specific to the one shown. I've fitted quite a few Chinese alarms and have yet to find much difference between them. They are fine. They make a noise and work 9 times out of ten.

Didn't explain myself well but due to the lack of battery backup you can disarm them by disconnecting from power. There is also a way of really messing up the earlier ones within a few seconds, not sure of the new ones, but I'll keep it to myself for now.

The easy hotwire is only a problem if you connect any wire to the ignition circuit, especially if you follow the instructions. With a little bit of thought and effort there is absolutely no reason to take any wire to the front of the bike.

You simply need to make sure that none of the wires are visible. I tend to make up my own loom just using black wire and connecting through the ECU or similar so its all local. Pretty basic but simple enough to do.

I put one of the immobilisers into the ignition coil wire, assuming that without power to the alarm control unit, the voltage would not reach the coil in the 1st place, and all my wires route to the front. I'm worried now lol. Teach me for rushing a job.

Not a lot to worry about. In reality the chances are that they wouldn't care less about the alarm when they lift it into the back of a van Wink
