Well i finally did it, a month after passing my test i managed to sell my 125 and buy my first big bike today. I have fond memories of lusting after one very similar to this in my teens and although its now 17 years old itself i still think it looks good.

I have till next Thursday to wait till i can go pick it up so in the mean time does anyone have any info on what to look out for running this bike.

excuse the pictures i haven't managed to get any of my own yet so i am using his.

Firstly just take it easy Bro cos that is a monster compared to the bike you have been riding and needs treating with respect for a while but it wont be long until you are doing Rossi impersonations

Laughing Thanks fastkwak no worries on the respect front, it fills me with just enough fear to keep me steady for a good while yet.

That's a nice bike there dude. I keep lusting after a ZXR750 too. From a thread on here not long ago, alternator belts seem to be a bit of an issue. If you want a set of black wheels I have a set of a ZX7R for sale that might fit ?

I,ve had a few of these,! 5 H1/H2s and 1 J1 so 6 in total.All G/W/B.
Alternator belts do go, easily fixed tho, and you don,t need to remove the carbs as someone suggested in another post about zxr750s.
Brilliant front ends, harsh rear. There is a mod involving swapping the dog bone and shock from other models that sorts it out.
Cams are notorious for pitting, worse on bikes that don,t get regular oil changes, they can start to smoke at high mileages.
Brake discs are known to warp,I changed to softer compound pads, problem solved.
Coolant bottles are a pain too, they crack.
Not a lot of parts in common with H1/H2.
Good motor, heavy old bike, but they go like stink stop well, and they,re bloody good fun.
