Used Bike Warranties

Anyone used them?
Thinking of getting one. Costs £250 for a 24 month warranty.
Max per Claim £750, unlimited claims.

You think its worth it?
Included an attachment with more details.
I think with 2 years breakdown cover it's not too bad.

I guess a concern of mine would be how many motorcycle garages would accept having to go through the ballache of dealing with a warranty company for payment.

I doubt the warranty will be worth the paper it's printed on.

Hahah! If you buy the right bike it won't cost you £250 in warrantyable claims in two years! What's wrong with you? You might spend that much on tyres and servicing and maybe a few consumables, but jeez. All the big bills I've ever had have either been for parts for ancient two strokes, or for servicing when I can't be arsed myself.

You'll also find it won't pay out for anything too. For a car? Eh... maybe? If you buy a Ferrari or Maserati for £50k+ it's a good deal. For a motorcycle? (of which I can't think of any recent ones that like to lunch themselves) Nah.

Thrust bearings and/or abs pump will run much more than the 750 limit per claim. If everyone who purchased coverage submitted even one claim each, that company will be out of business before you can even get yours in. That company is not selling coverage, they're selling a promise. Do you trust them to keep it?

My only experience with a used vehicle warranty was not good, big dealer, 'named' warranty provider.

My local garage refuses to do any warranty work after having to wait for many months and lots of chasing to get paid the last time they did some.

I asked the warranty people who I could use in the area and they couldn't give me the names of any other garages that had done work for them either. In the end, I gave them a copy of the quote for the work and we agreed that I'd pay the bill and they'd refund me. I got the work done, sent them the receipt and they said "we haven't authorised any work, so aren't paying"...

So I'd say what other have, check what's covered and what's not and also if your usual garage will actually do work for them.

Sounds like the sort of thing a company would buy if they could only get second-hand cars for staff (which is the current situation due to Covid) but for the most part such warranties are handled by the manufacturer.

If you bought a Japanese bike, that wouldn't be an issue.

Waste of money if you're putting the effort into checking it before and (more thoroughly with fairings off etc) after purchase. I made the mistake of buying second hand BMW's from dealers before - catastrophic engine leak immediately after warranty expired and that 750 wouldn't have even covered the diagnosis. Ignore the warranty and buy Japanese.
