I got the bike running and it runs well for about 3minutes of idleing before the engine sounds like it needed some revs to bring it to life properly. So i gave it a few let the revs settle and adjusted my idle to what i required.

When i tried to rev the bike after setting the idle it just bogs down, and now i can't get it to even idle now that it's stalled.

Oh by the way before it died it popped quite loudly through the exhaust when i tried to give it any revs.

It's obviously over fueling, could this be caused by running the bike in prime, it wont run in either reserve or 'on'?

Im going to get the plugs out and have a look at them once the bikes cooled and see if it'll start when it's not so warm, i also need to check the choke isnt stuck open but i seriously doubt it is.

Any ideas what wrong and how i can fix it?

Update: Had the plugs out the right cylinders plug is black, i mean really heavily coked up, the left is ok, what could be the cause of this excessive richness on just one cylinder?

if it will only run in prime, then you need to sort that first, so get the vacuum tap working.

The first thing I'd be looking at is correct float operation followed by mixture screws and then carb balancing.

my aerox was doing a similar thing to this and i took it to a garage and they found the problem to be muck in the carb, so if u no how to clean carbs you may as well clean it

A little light bulb sprung to head which reminded me of a problem i had with my nsr, after having the carb out the fuel would often come out the overflow.

Now that was because the float valve was stuck.

I recently had the carb out and cleaned, but then had it back out even more recently when i believe the valve could have stuck.

It would also explain the excessively rich right cylinder IMO.

Wheres the rubber mallet at when you need one!

very similar problem on my dt 50. I have not considered cleaning the carb. Can anyone do this or is it best to take it to a bike shop?

cleaning a carb is easy, simple dismantle and squirt carb cleaner in it followed by compressed air in all the jets and more cleaner. reassemble and reinstall.

On my own note, i removed the flooding cylinders float and replaced it with a one from my old carbs which worked.

Now the carbs not flooding but it's boggy and does begin to bog badly once it gets warm.

Im very much lost as to what the cause is, it's not like i've messed with the carb lately so unless something other than fueling could be the problem?
