Baffle material in Arrow exhaust

i've taken the end cap of an Arrow exhaust, taken out the metal holed baffle tube and cleaned it up, but i notice that the baffle material inside appears to be breaking up and clogged with coke.

That is assuming it is baffle material and not just where it's coked up very badly.

If it is, is it possible to put new material in? And if i took out what's left in there would it be much much too noisy?

chances are it's glass fibre wool.

You can get some new stuff from DIY shops and re-clad the zorst, just wear thick gloves cos glass fibre hurts if you get it in your fingers.

Yup, i've had a week of stinging, glass-fibre splintered hands to know never to handle it without gloves again Smile

Hi

B&Q type glass fibre loft insulation will work but won't last that well (very fine fibres, seems to break down easily). You can buy baffle packing material. Think a motocross specialist is probably your best source.

Oh dear. Somehow i suspect that a ton of loft insulation from B&Q would be a tenth of the price of the proper stuff from a proper bike shop.

Yep, you pays your money and takes your choice. Comes down to how often you can be bothered to repack the silencer.

When you repack it make sure you pack as much in as you can extremely tightly or you may as well not bother.
