For an RG125 Gamma. The silencer recently snapped off somewhere on the A6 (and is probably embedded in some poor sod's bonnet) and since then I have made do with a bit of bodging:

Now silencers for these bikes are pretty damn rare, so is anyone aware of a silencer from another 125 2 stroke that could be made to fit? It is the type that slips over the front pipe, not the 3 bolt-flange type.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mark

I've had a look at a couple of 125 smoker arrow exhausts, and most seem to use the 3 bolt-flange fitting to the pipe, this is just a slip on with a rubber boot.

I was thinking about getting this:

Then using a piece of radiator hose and a couple of jubilee clips to attach the 2 pipes.

Hi

Please don't wreck a half decent Aprilia AF1 silencer.

DEP do a replacement RS125 Gamma silencer:-

All the best

I take it as parts for the AF1 are just as hard to come by?

And I was under the impression that most DEP silencers had to be fitted to DEP front pipes?

Hi

AF1 bits are not common these days. Especially the stuff that gets wrecked such as silencers.

DEP silencers are made for stock exhausts. Some are no doubt for their complete systems, but the range of silencers is far bigger.

All the best

Keith

Am I also right in thinking that the sole purpose of the silencer is to do just that, deaden the noise, even on a 2 stroke. In light of this would it be possible to use a silencer off ANY bike, as long as it fits? IE use a silencer off a 4 stroke machine, as long as I left the 2 stroke front pipe intact?

Hi

As far as I know, pretty much yes. Although it might well change the jetting requirements a tad.

But a light wieght 2 stroke silencer would be a hell of a lot lighter than some heavy lump of a 4 stroke / diesel silencer.

All the best

Keith

DEP have quoted £56 + postage, a tad more than what I'm hoping to spend so I'll have another look around.
