PostPosted: 20:11 - 27 Jul 2008    Post subject: Speedforce indicator issue Reply with quote

Just today bought a Sachs Speedforce of a member on this board, and it was brilliant.

Until I took it out for a spin this eve, and half way round, my indicators stopped blinking.

They come on, but don't blink.

I resorted to turning them on and off manually to make em' blink, but now as far as I recall, its no longer road legal Sad

Anyone know what causes this? And, more to the point, how to fix it...

Thanks

Yeah it was :p

Well I did search the board, but it appears most of his problems related to an issue he fixed...

Its just the indicator, thats all thats wrong with it.

Oh, and when you get to about 45mph and hold it for about 1 min, it will loose power for a split sec, but thats a minor issue at the moment...

Indicator relay. Where do I get one of them? Any old bike shop?

Yeh only kidding mate, Laughing Im sure he would have rectified any problems before selling it on. Although by his own admission it is a lengthy wait to get parts for them. Something as simple as an indicator relay 'should' be easier but with less-popular bike manufacturers you can never be certain. Local dealer would be best.

Simply unplug the old one and connect the new one, not sure on scoots but it should be strapped onto the frame, near the horn and coil etc.

Would it be something as simple as loose wires? Ie would it be worth the time to take the panels off and make sure all wires that go to the indicators are... un loose...

I can imagine you would have to wait for parts, but tbh, wasn't expecting something to go wrong... quite so soon...

Someone on Yahoo Answers said bulbs. One of the bulbs might have gone, but then, wouldn't it not light up at all...

Yeah, definately check the wiring first. Also, make sure the bulbs are all the same Voltage. i.e. 6v bike, ensure all 6v bulbs. And same for 12v. Locate the relay and make sure the connectors and nice and tight after rubbing them down with some sandpaper or wire wool. If all 4 light but just dont flash, its you know the bulbs work so its most likely poor connections on the wiring or the relay has gone.

In Fnatics defense, things like this always happen. I sold my car to my mate, next day cam belt went. Another car, a different mate, matrix went.

Just like when your on the way to an MOT, the fucker works all year and a random indicator bulb, flasher relay, headlight bulb will go just before you get there. Evil or Very Mad

To start with RS2Matrix don't give it the fucking biggen. Also this indicator problem has never been an issue. Sounds like relay or CDI unit. Also how was the bike shagged? It had problems... E.g. the cat failed in the exhaust and the CDI had been replaced already.

The engine cutting out is the rev limiter according to the Sachs dealership. I'll get in contact with my dealer for you mate and shut the fuck up RS2Matrix.

How is it shagged you say? Well, without draggin through old thread, threads which many members on here will have seen, notably Whosethedaddy IIRC who commented on the day you posted a 'for sale' thread and also made a thread in the workshop, with a video of the bike, about you being such a prick for trying to ask advice on a fucked ped, while also selling it as excellent condition ON THE SAME FUCKING FORUM! Remember?

Cant be bothered wasting any more time on you to be honest, i refer back my first post.

Hmm I posted the for sale thing in the afternoon... Then went out on it and the CAT failed in the exhaust as the carb had been jetted to big by the shop when they de-restricted so I removed the post when I got in and posted for help...

Seeing as this was before they replaced the exhaust and carb is it fair for you to make a judgement? I misjudged that it was overheating when in fact it wasn't at all. In terms of underperformance this was due to the problems described.

Also parts do take a long time.

^ I agree.

Unfortunately for me, I've pretty much grown out of Acne, so I fear I may loose.

But, do not fear, for I have a SPEEDforce to make my swift exit, as long as its a straight road, I'm sorted! Wink

People can say what they like about mopeds and this particular one, so far I don't care. It will get me to where I want to go, quite quickly in my opinion (for a 50cc with two people on it) so that's the end of that discussion.

Now, in relation to this little cat fight we seam to have here.

1) No, it might not be the most reliable bike as per track record, but these things do happen, and don't try to tell me it only happens to cheaper peds, cause I know it don't. Its not as if the engine seized up within 10 miles, yeah the bike is made in china, but by a well known German manufacture, so just on that point, it should be a decent bike (the fact its German)

2) I have a problem with the indicators, something that is one of those ongoing cost things, occasionally it will need replacing parts etc etc, and all of a sudden its like I may as well give the bike to a scrap dealer.

All I wanted was some advice on the indicator.

This board seams to have a habit of going totally off topic within three or four posts, its like y'all have an attention span of a dead goldfish thats been glued to Fnatics old carb then tossed on the side of the road and awaiting your ultimate fate, to be crushed next time a 6.6 L turbo DMAX Diesel V8 Hummer strays just a bit too close to the pavement in its futile attempt to climb the leafy hill that has become your graveyard.

Lets leave it at this.

Crap bike or no crap bike, the indicators did work, and now they don't. I will try poking around, push in the wires etc etc and then pending results of that, come back here to seek more HELP and ADVICE Smile

Where did that come from? its a bit poem-ish.

Back on topic, the relay should cost a couple of quid. its should be under the clock surround or near the back light.
