Ride for myself at club level at the moment, hoping to work my way into the conference league in the next season or two...

I do ride grasstrack aswell, and am in the process of gaining stamps for my international licence for it. However that jawa would be useless on the grass as it has no suspension on the back!

And no - thats not McGays old bike Wink Its my, untainted, baby Smile

I asked a bloke who was advertising speedway racing at the BMF how much BHP they put out he said they where 500cc 4t singles pushing out 120bhp. I was unsure whether to believe him, at the top flight are the bikes puting out that much?

Chris - Putting it simply, No.

Last time i realy checked it out, (which was a year or two ago now), the top flight bikes were pushing ~80hp.

At 80bhp the maintenance shedule includes stripping the motor down after every meeting, so i doubt a 120 motor would last more than a few rides!

The other thing to consider, is that you struggle to get grip down on the shale, what ever bike your riding - My 125 honda powered bike even span up. 120 would realy make things awquard!

And no - Definately not McGee's old motor!

**EDIT**

They have approximately 80+ bhp and these engines run upto 11,000 + revs and when they go bang they certainly go bang!
