Dad has got a little holiday home with a little pool in the south of Italy. It is his palace but just between you and me it looks more like a builders yard. Hubby and I are thinking of riding down there in a couple of years(he has just passed his test but is restricted for 2yrs, so need to wait until he can get a bigger bike). I spoke to Dad a while ago about this and he said that if anyone else wants to come with us they can, for £7.00 per person per night. You would need your camping gear though as you will be sleeping between the pine trees.
I am putting the feelers out now as if there is interest he will need to build a shower and toilet block. The home is 2miles from the nearest town, and things like pubs&clubs are within walkable distance IF YOU CAN WALK 20 MILES! Just want to stress that this is a remote location, so perfect if you just want to sunbathe and swim but no good if you want nightlife. It is a 20min drive to the beach.Erm. That's all I can think of for the moment. If you have any questions or ideas, post them on here. Cheers.Lisa

My family live in Sorrento, I should be going over to visit for a while next year (July/Aug), I'm planning on a 3 week trip getting the ferry to Spain, riding down to Sorrento staying for while then riding back to get the ferry home. If your Dad's place is up and running then it would be cool to have somewhere else to visit for a couple of days on my trip.
The south of Italy is a really underated place to tour and tell your hubby not to worry about the 33bhp thing, he can still cruise at 80-90mph and theres few roads in the south of Italy that you'd ever need more then 33bhp Smile

Well, Dad's place is in Puglia (the heel). The town is called Parabita, you will find it east of Gallipoli. Other places in the area are Lecce, Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca (just incase you google it). A few years ago I camped under the pine trees.. the last 2 weeks of July were hot enough - I had to be out of the tent by 6am else I would have cooked. By the 1st of August I had to leave the tent and move indoors. It was just too hot. If you wanted to camp there I'm sure he wouldn't mind. We are actually going out there on the 9th August this year, so I shall put it all to him and see what he says. We are going to look at a Burgman for hubby tonight. He thought that 33bhp wouldn't be good enough. I shall tell him what you said!!
