I have a load of bike type stuff on ebay at the mo, and not wanting to cut my own throat on the postage (something I have accidently done before!) said I would find out postage costs for anyone interested.

Now, most stuff is easy stuff to post, but I have some textile and leather jackets on there which may be heavier than 2kg, but I need to know in order to get some quotes.

Had anybody got a set of scales that they could chuck their leather jacket and textile on to check weight for me?

I need:
Weight for leather (armoured)

Weight for textile (armoured)

Weight for combined

Karma waiting..... Wink

Best way is to pack it ready for dispatch and take it to the post office and ask then for the best way to send and how much it will cost.

Of course remember to send via a insured method... Even when the buyer says its OK not too....... Embarassed

Most bathroom scales are accurate to 0.5kg or so

Weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding the items. Then look up the price on the royal mail site and round up to the next £ to cover packaging

Not sure what you mean here, even 2nd class with a 24p stamp has compensation up to £36.
I'm guessing you'll be sending it standard parcels, this has up to £36 comp included, or for an extra £1, up to £100 comp.

A 1 piece leather suit is about 5kg and the textile 2 piece is about 3kg.

That isn't nessecary though, if you send by standard parcels (no sig) and the item doesn't turn up you just claim the comp off royal mail

You need to get it signed for if you are accepting payment by Paypal. If the buyer says he never received it they will take your money.

Upto £36 so if you sell for more you are on a loser, not only ££ wise but also from the crap the seller will give you for it getting lost.

For the sake of 72p its not worth the grief that can come from a non delivery...

Paypal issue a refund and then you claim from Royal Mail
Bare in mind that with recorded delivery you won't always (some say up to 25% of the time) get a signature. So if there's no sig for your recorded item, you lose the paypal dispute. Paypal have even been known to refund when a sig IS supplied! Shocked

Recorded delivery only has £36 compensation, if a recorded item gets lost in the post that is the MOST you'll get.

Recorded post goes in the same bags/cages as normal post but has a big red sticker on it which says 'valuable item inside' to any potential thieves.

The best method is special delivery, this is kept sperate from normal post in secure areras, but it aint cheap
