Hello!!

I'm 22 and i have never been on a bike. Its always been something i have wanted to do but i just keep putting it off, Now i want to start i have no idea where to.

I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on bikes as i'm looking for one that can handle a bit or off road along with the streets (I live in spain for 6 months a year so i need something that can take the hills and shocking road quality outside of the towns)

And because i'm girl i'd like something that looks nice...yes i'm terribly shallow I know!! Laughing

I'm also looking for advice on helmets and everything else that i will need!

Any suggestions?!

thanks for reading!!

best place to start is go to a riding school and either do your test or just do the cbt (not sure about the spain thing though).

but due to your age, I would suggest you do the DAS

after finishing the DAS you can ride any cc motorbike so it gives you choice

helmet wise.. I bought one a few weeks ago before I needed something cheap

I went to a local bike shop and they had helmets on sale.. I bought a lazer helmet rated 5 stars in a safety test (was in mcn) and bought it for £35 Thumbs Up

Thanks for getting back to me, I'm planning on doing all my test's and road experience in Scotland, The Spanish roads are a little bit scary for a first timer i think!!

Plus most of the instructors i have seen all teach in spanish and i'm only fluent in hand signals with occasional sound effect Laughing

I'll go and contact a few riding schools and see what the crack is. Any advice on the best kind of bike??

I rode over a gravel track in Spain on a CBR600 , you just have to take it slooow and keep your hand off the front brake , it was like that for nigh on 3km ,

Dodger rode up a mountain goat pass on a fazer, so any bike'll do.

Are you planning on using the same bike in Spain as Scotland ?
If you are then thats one hell of a trip twice a year.

I would be looking at some kind of off road bike. What size is going to depend on what level of test you pass. If you are planning of using it both here and spain, then you really need to do the DAS and get someting like a 500+ for that distance.

You will need to do a cbt 1st and that will give you a idea if biking is for you.

I guess somthing along the lines of This is what you are looking at. Just hope you not a short in the leg lady Wink

Best bike for you would be something like a DT125.
