In insurance terms what exactly do they count as a garage. Some seem to accept sheds etc, some don't. Reason I'm asking is because I have just moved home, now my old place had a garage (Brick built). However, my new place doesn't although it has a locked wooden shed in the rear garden. Now when I told my insurance company this they said its not a garage and would be classed as being parked on a driveway?? Buts its not on the driveway its in a locked building!

What are your thoughts on this??

Also, they want a £30 admin fee to change the address but policy has only got three weeks left to run and that is almost a quarter of what I paid at the begin of the policy.

With a lot of insurance quotes they ask you about the garage, When i got my insurance it asked me where the bike will be kept overnight. I selected garage and then it asked me what the garage was made with. Brick,Concrete and there were a few mores. You should be fine if you just say garage i would think, Unless there was a option where you could select other? Or even ring up the insurance company and ask them?

aye,,it`s always brick built building`s for insurance purposes.Anything else isn`t "secure" in their eyes.

You can blag it if you want to and say it`s a concrete/brick outbuilding/shed or whatever...but if you have to make a claim at some point your policy will be voided when the assessor comes out.
Can`t blame them though really.....how safe is a shed Wink

Sheds arnt as safe as proper garages thats why. 3 Weeks left on the policy i'd personally just leave it and wait until renewal.
