Anyone got any wisdom on them?

looking at a blue one, going for 400 notes, with tax and test till next may.

Cant find much about them online to be honest, theyre not even listed on UBG.

They are pretty sound bikes, not fast but pretty good as a round town commuter. Some have had cylinder head problems, it will probably be 25 years old now so it probably has been looked after.

Any idea of a realistic top end?

The only reason im upgrading is for a bike capable of motorway work easier you see, so would be a bit pointless if it didnt have a semi decent top end.

I don't think it would be the ideal bike for on the motorway, they are a bit vibey being a twin and the top speed isn't that clever.

£400 is about the right price, but I think a 500cc+ would be better for motorways.

an early GSX would probably have something similar to the early GSXR400's.

mine was a GK71B GSXR400 from 1984, and it topped out at around 110mph. claimed 59BHP at the wheel (bollocks i reckon)

if its slightly detuned for more of a tourer, i would say about 90mph or maybe a ton.

i used to have the gsx400e impulse which i think is a completly differnet bike that you are talking about, it was a 4 cylinder and topped out at about 210km/h about 125m/h
