I was supposed to be sorting all my electrical gremlins on the bike out today but on the way to borrow a multimeter from a friend it decides it doesnt want the electrics done it wants its plugs swapped instead Laughing

I keep oiling the br9es up, im on the 3rd set in 1000miles and having to swap them, the oil pump is set up correctly so will running br10es solve the problem?

Are there any other side affects i need to be aware of when using hotter plugs?

Hi

10s would make the problem worse. They are colder plugs for hotter engines.

Presume you mean to go for 8s. Potential problems with the plugs getting too hot and failing. Ultimatly could result in a holed piston, but probably safe in normal use on the road (flat out motorway run would be rather different).

All the best

Keith

may help in understanding the numbers. Yes 10 is cooler. Try an 8 and check it after a bit.

Embarassed yep 8 would be the one i meant Laughing motorway running seems to be what caused the plugs to oil this time, on the way back from the south east ride out yesterday as i pulled off the M25 it started to misfire and then stopped running about 2 minutes later, about 2 miles away from home Rolling Eyes
My dad has warned me before that long journeys at constant throttle will oil the plugs up even at higher revs so perhapse this is what ive done and its nothing to do with the plugs? this is definetly the worste ive seen them...

Also the misfiring started at the same time as the rain, i initialy suspected it was electrical but since the plugs are so oily i figure it was just a co-incidence, theres no way that the rain would cause the plugsa to oil up right?

Hi

Never had a problem with oiling on long motorway runs.

To be honest I would be more inclined to think that the water caused a misfire, and the misfire resulted in the messy plug.

All the best

the thought crossed my mind but two oily plugs doesnt make sence when only one plug was misfiring?
