License endorsement Q - sending off counterpart?

Right, i was out on a bit of a hoon today and got caught with my pants down accelerating too early before the NSL sign... 50 meters away. So i got lazer gunned and i didn't really want to dispute the claim; they got me done for doing 44 in a 30 at the end of a village opening up to an NSL (no side turnings or crossings), any faster and they said that:

They wouldn't have caught me in time in which case he would have radioed in reinforcements to stop me further down the road (speed traps a plenty!)

I would have gone to court if it read something like 50 and had been kind enough to pull in.

Anyway, i admit to the mistake and put my hands up - the rozzers (on their Pan euros) were pretty down to earth about it and weren't there to give me a lecture - he was looking at the state of me, the bike and the tyres and suggested i go do a trackday instead which was a fair comment. They were kind enough to not do me for having a loud pipe and a 7x5 plate and a dark visor AND listening to my music whilst i pulled up!

Rite that's not the point, the main question is this

I've been issued with an Fixed Penalty Notice for 3 points and 60 quid
I need to send off my payement with the slip and my LICENSE... NOW he mentioned to send the paper counterpart to the address stated on the FPN.

I've read from other sources that BOTH parts of the license will need to be sent, and i've heard other statements saying that only the counterpart is required for the endorsement.

My dilemma lies in the fact that I'm due to fly off in 2 weeks time and wont be back for a month. i'd need my photocard license where i'm going and also for proof. SO for anybody that's been done for speeding and got their license endorsed... DO YOU ONLY SEND YOUR PAPER COUNTERPART?

I sent both when I jumped a red light in February.

Suspect you'll have to send both. Maybe a photocopy will be ok for where you're going?

Yeah,

I thought as much, i couldn't get any detail regarding this form pepipoo or any forum's search. I know by definition a license constitutes of both the photocard and the paper counterpart, it's just that the officer's terms weren't too clear, he got sidetracked about getting me involved in track days , the pendant was being distracted by his little lazer gun toy.

I'll photocopy my license like and use that as proof when i'm abroad. It's not as if the indonesian judicial system is the most organised systme out there.

Also, because my license has NOT been endorsed YET - would i need to tell my insurers this when i renew next week (because technically it HAS NOT been endorsed?) I doubt it will affect the premium much.

I'd tell them. You'll need to tell them in the future anyway. Because if you need to claim and then they find out you got points and didn't let them know you'll be bending over.

It didn't make much difference to my premium.

send just the counterpart. if anything it will buy you time, and by the time you get a letter back saying ''we need your card'' you will be back, and be able to send it along with a ''sorry, i must have dropped it out of the letter'' type of arselick note.

I'll send both parts just before i'm due to fly back on the 8th September so i'll send it on the saturday after i'm done fannying about with using it as ID in the pub because i can't guarantee that they'll get it to me before that time if i send it now.

Up here in Scotland if you get a fixed penalty you just take your cash and license to your nearest cop shop they`ll take your money and write your points on it no need to send to DVLA

Well, i got busted 3 counties away (I'm east lothian and got pulled over by central scotland police), I've read the VERY small print that i needed to send my license off to sterling district court; the license consitutes of BOTH paper and Photocard, to Steriling district court where they'll do the honours there, it does state that there's only one address to pay it at . I'll give them a bell actually and let them know the situation and if they'll allow me to pay the fines at my local nick?
