Ok I picked up an old slabby the other week, it had been stood for 3-4 years and needed some tlc. Started, ran, zero rear brake but otherwise didn't seem in too bad nick for 500 nicker.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/a592_1.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image652.jpg

So after riding it up to it's temporary 'workshop' at my mate's in Derby (it fookin GOES!!! Surprised Wink ) I set about it , we'd concluded the forks were too pitted to pass the MOT so I got a pair or 1100 ones off a mate.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image009-1.jpg

Pulled some fairings off (which were in worse condition, than first thought - nose fairing not attached at very top, bellypan all melted on one side, probably due to it having an 1100 exhaust system fitted) so quite glad I planned to fighter it anyway!)

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image054-1.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image055-1.jpg

Wheel off, calipers were a bitch to remove, seems they had zero pad remaining Shocked and need a bloody good clean.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image066-1.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image064-1.jpg

Old forks off, then we find the new ones are too big.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image074-1.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image076-1.jpg

So no worries, just put on the yokes that came with the 11 forks and jobs a good 'un. Only wanna get it MOT'd for now.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image078-1.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image081-1.jpg

Yokes on, oops clipons don't fit 11 yokes. Evil or Very Mad

So I had a smoke and a think, then abandoned the job for the day.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/super_jo/Image097-1.jpg

Decided to bring forward the fightering, pointless buying 1100 clipons if I'm gonna fighter it eventually anyway...

So next installment will be forks fitted, bars and risers (top yoke already drilled) calipers sorted with new pads, wheel back on. After that just need to fit and check the used rear caliper I've got and we'll be away - for now!!

Please don't fighter it, it's going to ruin what looks like a pretty decent condition Slabside.

+1

I'm crying inside knowing that it will no longer look as it should. Crying or Very sad

But it's your bike, your choice, I hope you like it!

But for god's sake, keep the fairings just in case!

Yeah I get what ya all saying (honest I do Wink) but the fairings really aren't that good. Besides, a fast, black streetfighter is the bike I've always wanted. This isn't a resto and resale project.

Dug out some risers but they don't fit the yoke, grr Mad

Off to an engineering place in the morning with the yoke, see if I can get some made.

Yeah keeping the CB kris, just need to fix the footpeg I snapped off while arsing around on the A1 Embarassed Laughing

Was hoping to have the GSXR ready for Stormin' the Castle in September, hmm may be a bit of a rush now... Neutral
