If you are confident in riding the bike back then I would do that but take it easy or you have the option of trailer/van or you can arrange to have the bike delivered to you

Same situation i was in before i got the r6, i was going to hire a van ( 40 quid for the day, you can get one alot cheaper though )
but the seller said he'd deliver it for half the price.

Think that sounds the best idea. I can understand the idea of riding it back, but i never have riding gears before so dont want to end up stalling and all that, How much can i get a van from then?

It's the safest aslong as you can secure the bike in the van.
i've seen decent size vans that you can hire from 20 quid for half a day which should be enough.

if you ride it back and it's your first time you'll be nervous because you've just bought the bike, probably on unfamiliar roads and if you do make any cock ups with the gears etc it's alot nicer when you are in your own area and can go on roads you know that will be quiet etc.

try yell.com ?

Ride it! i picked up my bike from 60+ miles away and had to ride round through london. It was a month after my CBT and i'd not touched a bike before then. Best learning experience you can get.
