Are these any good? ASAP

Hey, mate of mine has just had his first off, was relatively lucky, dislocated a shoulder and scraped a knee. Thing is he says his textile trousers werent any good and is now after some leathers and has got me thinking the same. Thing is money is tight, as always.

Does anyone have and experience with these :

Iv seen a few other companies selling the same things rebadged as other makes. If these arent worth the money can you suggest where else to get leathers and how much i should pay.

Leather is leather, its better than your ar5e put it that way... its just the quality and type of stitching that I'd be curious about??

^^^ +1 to the point about stitching.
It wont matter what the material is if the seams burst on impact.
A good set of textiles are just as good as a good set of leathers imo but the leathers will be more useful if you come off at high speed.
Look at how/where you ride then decide if leathers are worth the extra expense.
for me,they`re not.

what brand of gear did your mate have on and what happened to his trousers?If they didn`t do the job you should let everyone know about it.

you will find some leathers that are of the highest quality but are less in price just because they havent got "alpinestar" on them

hey, thanks for the replies. The roads im on mainly are fast country roads, (A91 Stirling - St.Andrews).

The off was right by my mates house in a 40. Low-sided on a right hander. The textiles on were Akito Desert trousers, and Akito edge jacket. The knee protection moved and allowed the textiles to wear through damaging his knee.

Just off this morning to go see him and pick up the bike. Bike was baugh new five months ago and insurance is TPFT so Praying

You got the Akito Desert suit BAB? How you finding it??

I crashed in some majorly CHEAP textiles once and it put me off them for years. Burned right through the shoulder, through the armour and melted my fleece underneath. The trousers burned me big style on my knee without leaving a mark on them or the trousers I had on underneath.

They were naff though!! Got a bit more hope for my new akito's. Still prefer my one piece suit for the ultimate feeling of safety and lunacy rolled into one!

Well look at the pics on the ebay sale and then These Top pic is exactly the same and the cost is $149 not the $395 quoted. Which comes in at £69.
Seems they also sell on Ebay

Read the speel on them and they both have removable knee sliders, so i bet they are one and the same.
Look at the ebay details and they are the same......

Completely agree, Im in the same boat Ive lost my neck tube so will have to get another. Bit too warm for me at the moment though!!

hey, so the crash, he came off and was only on the road for a split second before going through a hedge. The jacket was great and for the most part the trousers were ok, his right knee i absolutely fine not even a bruise, and the left knee isnt as bas as suspected (no skin graft needed).

The bike looks in surprisingly good condition, all cosmetic damage except for a cracked sub-frame.

Leathers... i decided to have a look around the local shops to get my sizes and couldnt find anything that fitted in Jim Alans in Falkirk so went through to Hein Gericke in Edinburgh and went for the £170 jacket with free trousers deal. Ill let yous know how they are when they arrive (wed. didnt have the colour i wanted in stock)
