Whatcha guys recommend? Just sold my hack and thinking of splashing out and buying a new set to replace my cheap J&S leathers i got last year at the NEC (They were <90quid but have held up just about in 2 crashes). Cant decide if i want a 1 or 2 piece though. Prefer the look of one, but i wear mine all year round so would like a 2 piece for practicality, only problems is most 2 pieces ive had a look at are gash! Budgets about 4-500quid i think...

I agree, one piece looks so much better but nowhere as practical as the 2.

£500 is quite a budget.

I got my RST Voltage 2 piece for £270. Not bad, still needs breaking in properly, only worn together once or twice as too hot in the jacket at the moment.

Track.. one piece.
Road.. two piece.
Peeling one piece leathers off on a daily basis is a pain. In the paddock at the track it makes you feel like a god.

Hows the quality on them? yeah budgets a bit big, but looking around quite a few seem to be around this price bracket so set that really as my maximum... I wanna buy an xbox or playstation as well i think so if i could pick up a set for sub-300 and spend the rest on other crap it'll all be peachy. Razz

Seems ok, got quite a lot of stretchy panels to allow for movement but no rain protection whatsoever!

The jacket comes with a removal liner for winter. The end of the arms and neck have a neoprene edging that soften the feel and allow for quick drying when wet.

Pockets a little small and awkward to even get your hands in.

Out of all the RST range that I tried on, the Voltage felt the most snug and comfortable.

i am thinking about getting leathers myself this year, to replace my textiles for the dry weather.
i have decided on getting a 2 piece suit with a full waist zip - so the practicality of a 2 piece, but zips into what is basically a one piece so just as safe.
with your budget, why not go for a wander around a few bike shops, look at what you like and try it on - there must be some nice 2 piece's out there somewhere. and with your amount of money - easy enough to get too.

The 2 piece does give me a nice choice of what to wear depending on the weather, ie leather jeans and a textile vented jacket for when a little hot or leather top and Draggin jeans for the dark overcast days.

In that instance it makes a 2 piece more appealing, but still want a 1 piece.

I went 1 piece because i found that the 2 piece zip used to be a pain and ride up all the time on my back protector and visor. 1 piece is less practical on the road, but i feel very comfortable - i've got no problems getting on my back protector and visor anymore. The hump poses a bit of a problem with backpacks, especially my bblbee hardshell, but at the end of the day when i'm out on the hoon, i definitely feel more comfortable. undersuits are a must to remove sweaty leathers.

yeah a one piece keeps the organs together in a nice bag for collection

lol but on a serious note, you might think two pieces look really bad, but try them on and they could be better than you think

and i think maybe 300 on leathers and u could get gloves, helmet or some boots as well!

Bike shows, shops lol. Sub £400 its easy to get a set of RST's.

I bought mine at beauliea show for £150 then ebay for £130.

I crashed in the rist set and they stood up very well, so i got another set which have ripped at the crotch! (Not due to RST, just large testes!) Laughing

Well i went and tried on a couple of arlen ness ones in HG today, How tight are these things meant to be? I struggled to get the trousers on, they just got stuck round the knee. Then taking them off was a whole new world of comedy... Jacket was good though, nice and snug but when i took a deep breath in i felt abit abit strangled in it. Next size up is too big though! Tried on some Alpinestar ones and they werent too bad, jacket fit me abit better. Just trousers seem to be too long... damn my midget legs!

Tight , like my Dainese suit , that was tight but offered excellent sliding resistance.... that said I had gotten fatter...

But hey for £500 why don't you get a custom set made for about £50 more some place in Wigan, they measure you up before they make it and it will be the LAST set of leathers you will ever need , last longer than you will probably and you can adjust the gheyness factor of them ie have them all pink if you want, or have some titanium shoulder sliders etc....

Takes 3 weeks to make, Ross has a set it is very thick leather and had flaps on the front which you can do up so it becomes vented leather.

Just don't say put on a load of weight ot lose lots of it though...

Haha, that suit was awesome, but i felt that i needed to get rid. I've got a dedicated touring kit (goretex bottom and textile jacket/spare leather SMX jacket) so for weekend blasts, it was 1 piece for me. Like i said, i have very quick metabolism so i crap pretty frequently. I found the zip-together suits put quite a bit of pressure on the abdomen and bladder, especially because of the trousers being tight at the waist - as a result, i often ALMOST piss myself at the end of a particularly long ride where i've been ignorant and not decided to stop at any service stations. one piece is all free and totally supportive around the flanks and abdomen. So if you've got seasonal kit like what I do, 1 piece makes sense because you're not relying on a 2 piece to do 2 jobs. (riding in a 2 piece in winter WILL guarantee you pneumonia!)
