When i was riding bigger bikes, the 'nods' came freely, but on an L-plated NSR it tends to be noticeably less frequent.

What i was wondering is, do all of you who have got your licence see those that haven't as undeserving of a nod as soon as you see the L, or do you nod despite that, because at the end of the day they are still actually biking?

The Nod for me is one of things that seperates bikers from drivers (V-dub camper vans excepted) and it's always nice to get one, but i'm hesitant to instigate the first nod, being the lowly L-plater, but then wonder if the other person thinks i'm just being rude.

So, where do you stand on the nod?

This has been discussed so many times now.

I am an L plater and get and give nods.

I've noticed I always get nods now I've passed my test. I nod to L-platers, even scooter riders (though few nod back).

I nod to everyone (even the harleys but you can see how it pisses them off cus they only ever have a piss pot lid on) but I don't tend to look to see if they look back. Normally I look at the bike or in front and just nod if I see a bike. Don't care if they don't nod back then.

L platers are not afforded nods as they havent commited themselves to the brotherhood by passing the iniation test.

As long as it isn't a scooter I'll nod. I hate it when I nod to a bike and it turns out to be a Harley. Those d1cks rarely nod back. Ducati riders are mostly up themselves too.

When I was riding with L plates I gave the nods but rarely received them, now I'm without L plates I get a lot more nods and still give them... I do find I don't get nods back from L plates as much though.

Just curious, but why are you on an L-plate after riding bigger bikes?

i`ll take a wild guess and say he got too many points or a ban in his probationary period so he had to go back to basics and do it all over again.

I nod at everyone though rarely scooters round here. Harley riders are amongst the most ignorant when you nod to them on your sports bike, no idea why, might be they had to take a left hand bend at 25 and scratched all their polished chrome on the tarmac.

Meh, no-one nods over here in Australia.

I can only conclude that this is because they are utter cunts. Neutral

I head-slash them, (its not a nod!) but don't get many back. I think they're either concentrating to hard or don't realise there is a biker-nod/head-slash rule in place.

My head-slash could be construed as me doing a low angled shoulder check so if they don't acknowledge me, I can fall back on that as a face saving excuse.

Imagine a biker with Tourettes, they'd be popular... Shocked

Thumbs Up

If I'm on my scooter I never nod, what's the point. On my bike I'll nod if I'm not on my commute and depending how much I'm concentrating on the road.

Yeah, thats sorta what I do.
I like to think of it as an understated nod.

I dont nod unless i get nodded too.

Found myself to be staring at the other biker when i offered a nod to see if he/she returned it, which put my eyes off the road. I can still see if i get a nod in the corner of my eye, if so i nod back.

Because before i had little or no respect for the licensing laws, basically. i did a fair few daft things in my youth, and riding big bikes without a licence was one of them. I was competent enough, and possibly safer than i would have been with a proper licence, and could have easily taken and passed my test at the time, but somehow i just never got round to it. Boy, do i regret that now..

The penalties then weren't quite so vicious back then either, so even if i had got caught, the pleasure was worth the fine. But fortunately, i never did get pulled.

i have grown up (a bit) since then. Wink

I don't nod L platers.

I remember how hard my das was, failed twice. I really felt like I earned that nod first time out on the bike after I passed.

Earn it, get it.

A few 'big' mopeds(big cruiser type ones) have caught me out, I see them comming, nod, see the lplate.. bastard I say, he caught me out.

I usualy find the guys in full racerep leathers, usually solo riding and knee downing every roundabout rarely nod. That's pretty sad Rolling Eyes

All that means is that all the CBT riders who will pass their A2's straight off are better riders than you.
