what would you do in the event of a zombie invasion?

For subject clarity the zombies are realistic ones, dead, then back to life, slow walking and as body degrades and rots away become slower and slower (unless they get food/brains) until they collapse into a puddle of bones and guts. death is by decapitation or brain destroyed. you turn into a zombie being bitten or bodily fluids (not in a sexy way, unless your into that) and if you die from infection you become one.

so how would you react if this happend?, you wake up turn on the news and see it all on tv. surving for roughly a month or so until zombies become less of a threat.

Once again, anyone been round Crewe after 10pm it is like that.

I would get hold of some weapons, food etc. Barricade the stairs up so I have bathroom, bedroom etc. I have a small alcony I could go out on. I am in the countryside so it is ok really but If I were to go into town, a .50 cal minigun would be essential

I think the actual problem in this situation would be other humans rather than zombies. It's fine barricading yourself in your house from zombies... Until someone down the road decides he wants your food...and your missus.

I'm fully prepared for this. I have a book called the zombie survival guide. I've read it, its a bit geeky. So i substituted zombies for charves and it sort of works the same. It has pro's and con's for use of a car, motorbike etc etc. Which weapon to use and what you should do. But i think i would go to aldi because it's down the street and take all the food and drink. Barricade myself in my bungalow and get pissed with the dog and the wife. Ride it out and chill. Then steal whats left behind.

a) Ride my bike to a bike dealership and get myself something fast like a busa then ride that to B&Q and attach implements to ram any zombies that get in my way... e.g. pitch forks, etc

b) fly back to my house an pick up the missus

c) get up to some serious speed and fly back to Wales to my old mans farm.. he owns 6 shotguns, a crossbow, 2 air rifles, a harpoon, and a dog trap launcher

d) raid the local rod & gun shop and take as much ammo as possible then head to the nearest National War Museum and steal a tank, my old man can drive that back, and steal a lorry my brother can drive that.

e) head to Tesco and get as much canned food as humanly possible, and alcohol and fags.

f) Head to builder yard and grab fencing etc

g) head back and barricade the surrounding area ensuring that the vegtable patch is within the boundary. The shoot anything that moves.

Or

Steal a speed boat, fuck off to France.. head for the Alps, and snowboard for the rest of my life or until the threat is over. There is no way a zombie could catch me on my board,

All this chat about raiding the gun shop or getting firearms. Since everyone (mostly) is going to have a similar idea, I think more folk are going to die doing that than being eaten by zombies...

I reckon an old school castle would be the best defensive structure. Try and stock it up with food and bottled water then just wait it out, why burn ammo on a thing that'll starve in a couple of weeks anyway. You'll need it to fend of other survivors afterwards.

Weapon of choice would have to be something stabby purely because they are far easier to find, and don't run out of ammo.

Ah but...

Stabby weapons are high risk due to infection... You get some blood in an open would and you're in trouble... I'd go for full bike gear, it's tough and durable, hard to bite through and fairly good protection from blood splatters. For offensive weaponry, it would have to be a base ball bat or fighting sticks, like batons.

The zombies are quite slow moving, so you could in theory pull some pretty nifty kung fu moves on them with impunity. Speed it up a bit, stick it on youtube, (for afters...) You might even get a rep for being some sort of ninja zombie killing squad, save a simpering politician or some kittens and you can get on trisha and sell your story to the News Of The Screws after the emergency has passed.
