A ban on using two-wheeler Segways has deliberately been flouted by an MP in protest at the law.

Lib Dem Lembit Opik rode a Segway up and down outside the Houses of Parliament, challenging ministers to have him arrested.

I know it's only a minor infraction but it seems MPs believe when there is a law they do not agree with they can ignore it - does this mean I can as well?

Excuse me while I ride down my local pedestrianised High St on the back wheel chopping down kittens - "I'm only doing what our elected representatives are doing M'lud".

Who wants to report them to the police and insist something is done about it?

An MP with the balls to risk arrest over resisting the nazi ban-culture (on one point at least)? Good luck to him, he's right.

should be allowed on pavements but it's bad enough having them oap scooters chugging up the middle of the road at 5mph without them too. It's not like they look where they're going.

Anything that doesn't pay road tax shouldn't be allowed on the road tbh, screw road pricing, just tax bicycles and scooters Wink

Perhaps doing so knowing damn well nothing will happen to him because in one way shape or form, he's still on the same team?

Nothing will happen to him , MPs are above the law...

The government loans/donations debacle is an excellent case of this in that

SOCPA says something like

"Money laundering is where the source of money is disguised or hidden" (foot note even if the money is legitimate)

If I was a CPS type I would score very highly as most MPs have accepted 'donations' and bribes were the person doing the donation only donates below £1000 so it does not need to be declared..

This shows intent to hide the source of funding and therefore I could have run 620 charges of money laundering against the MPs of the UK government and WON every single one of them, as it being less than £1000 shows intent, and them not declaring it also shows intent and guilt..

Of course this CPS officer would have found to be severely depressed and would have gone for a walk up Snowdon....

When he's not flouting the law by riding his Segway up and down outside the Houses of Parliament, he's busying banging one of the Cheeky Girls.

He sounds like a good MP. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Those things cost 4.5k and only do 12mph for 24 miles? You can buy several acceptable used cars/motorbikes for that.

And he seems to think they will be a revolution in transport?

Sounds like a muppet to me.

Does this not scream

*BACKHANDER!*

to anyone else?

If I was one of those horn-rimmed spectacled, tight black polo neck, winkle-picker, frizzy haired London types with their head in the clouds and their noses on a mirror, I wouldn't mind one of those.

Fortunatley, I am a Daily Star reading, van driving, dirty-fingered, steel toe-capped, Hi-Viz, bearded oik and would feel a complete cunt wobbling around on one of those twat-chariots.

Their defence was allowed by judge David Caddick, who told the jury of three men and nine women that the case centred on whether the protesters did have a lawful excuse for their actions.

He said that for a 'lawful excuse' to be used it must be proved that the action was due to an immediate need to protect property belonging to another.

On that basis, surely I can justify terrorising gangs of teen hoodies that prowl the streets of Harrow at night - it's a dead cert that they'll be stealing or damaging someone else's propert at some point?

There's more evidence of immigration damaging this country than there is of climate change - does that mean I can go and vandalise their houses?

Green lobby groups and their ludicrous theories on global warming - sorry, it's climate change now that they've realised the world isn't warming up - are causing more damage to my wallet in green taxes than any mugger has; does this mean I can go about damaging them?

Hi

Agreed, although I think the bit about "He said that for a 'lawful excuse' to be used it must be proved that the action was due to an immediate need to protect property belonging to another." might mean you can can't go for the teen gang as that would also be protecting yourself.

All the best

Keith

I take your point - although I think it'd be fairly safe for me to argue that I don't have as much to fear from spotty teens in the street as the average middle class dude does.

Nah a MMGCC denialist is considered worse than a holocaust denialist or a paedo these days.....

I don't hang around airports staring at young ladies of the orient any more - at least, not in a professional capacity.

Ironically, I'm working on the climate change stuff now, trying to persuade people there that its all bollocks.

People get advised not to talk to me.
