Bear with me for a moment. This isn't about my bike, but read on.
I've been having some trouble with my bike, the first being a dead battery, the second that the bike didn't have as much power as it used to. At the top of the rev range where I used to have max power, there was just weakness.
About 2 hours ago I changed the battery for a brand new one.
Bike stared easily obviously, and when I got out of the garage, the bike felt smoother for some reason. Curious, I let it warm up, and took it all the way up the revs.
PERFECT.
Good as new, the revs were right up there kicking ass!

So, were you aware that the battery can actually affect the performance of your bike?
I'm guessing that it must be because of the spark plug not getting enough power to fire properly that many times per second?

Expert opinions please. I'm just SO happy, cause I thought my engine was failing Very Happy

Now that's very helpful, I know for a fact my battery is on the way out as the alarm gives an extra squawk when I turn it on of an evening. I've been putting the bike on charge over-night and in the morning it runs fine. Come evening after a day parked at work with the alarm on, and having used heated grips for 40-45mins each way the bike feels a bit sluggish. It may be time to change the battery, cheers. Thumbs Up

EDIT: What make did you buy, how much, and where from?

I bought a Yuasa YB9-B battery, which is the same as was in the bike from the beginning.
It costed me 20 quid, I live in Spain, so maybe price varies slightly.
Was a bit scary having to transport the sulphuric acid in the inside pocket of my jacket as I had no space elsewhere Shocked
Bike is a 2005 Rs 125 just incase anyone is wondering
