These guys seem to have everything you would need to make your own.
https://www.pjengineering.co.uk/
Seems like a great way to get a cheap and pretty bespoke can.
Can anyone see any problems with this? Most bolt/slipp-on cans I've seen are just the perforated tube, steel wool and packing crammed into a tube with 2 ends and a few rivets.
Any thoughts/opinions?

How's this for a "can"!?

https://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w215/impreza_2007/DSC00687.jpg

Baffles consisted of a metal scourer, a brillo pad and some fibreglass insulation.

The original is probably wedged in a cars front radiator grill somewhere. (though I have a proper can back on now)

I made this out of a table leg from B&Q, with a bit of mesh, and turned up a bung out of a lump of ally on the lathe Thumbs Up

One or 2.

first can I made for the CG, 2 empty 600g mig welding gas bottles hacked up and welded back together, good engineering, but sounded a bit naff.

Then I made a high level pipe for it all, make it look a bit more offroader, and decided to put the remnants of a very nackered marshall deeptone can on the end after plating up some massive holes and stubbying it. this one makes it sound like a xl250, quite cool I think.

Winner of best exhaust/can has to be Nath though, the scaffold pipe on the 550.

and the MOT day version.

its a pre-fabricated stainless slip-on for a car exhaust.
The guy modified the slip on piece and welded some hooks for the springs.

I'm not from the UK so don't know what it would cost but at the end of the day it's only a piece of pipe ..

Please don't fit a chopped down chavbox to your bike. It'll look naff.

Nath's however is pure class, especially his MOT modification.

He must be friendly with the tester...

I rode that 550 after that pic was taken, and I have to say, its was the most awesome sounding bike ever, as in better than a vf4750 with gear driven cams.

The induction noise was awesome, whilst you could hear it, once it was past 6k all you could hear was the unrefined, unrestrained growl from the '76 550 engine roaring down the road.

Pure bliss.

Cheers

Mine was the standard exhaust chopped in half, and the end bit stainless welded to the end...sounds good! (no recent pics, still got the same old evil raspberry)
