Well, having seen that molly coddled nobody khan last night finally facing a competive opponent I hope this is the end of the dark era boxing has been forced into.

The guy had been floored by his previous 'past it' opponents and finally got his come-uppance after 17 seconds of his first decent fight. Thank god that the wheels of that circus like gravy train have finally fallen off and they can no longer take the piss out of british boxing.

Bring on the next prodigy Rolling Eyes

The problem is that when you take a fighter like Khan who has had the best of things in the last few years, and put him in the ring against a lad from the streets of a very rough city he is always going to struggle. Simpley put, the lad from the streets is always going to be hungrier and put more effort in.
TBH I thought that Khan simply got his arse handed to him on a plate and as soon as the fight started you could see how aggresive the other chap was.

I think my initial post was a bit too derogatory. Kahn was in fantastic shape and he is a good fighter. I dont doubt his fitness or punching ability. What I have always doubted is the skill of his opponents and his punch resistance. Which he has proved beyond a doubt that he has NONE at all Laughing Im just glad his bubble has finally burst Thumbs Up

Khan is not the best of british boxing. Up until last night he was a promising prospect, at best. British boxing is in fairly good shape, or at least it's better than it has been for quite a while. Admittedly some of the bigger names will be retiring soon but the likes of David Haye etc have still got plenty to give.

I think the trouble with Khan is not himself, but the hype that Frank Warren etc has made around him. I admit he is a good boxer, BUT a boxer has to be able to take as well as give, and it has been proved now on several occasions that Khan is not the best when it comes to taking.
In fairness, I think it's a shame because I love to watch boxing and like seeing the british lads doing well, but once again the money men take over, hype someone up who isn't quite what they think and then everyone is disappointed.

Someone give Steve Collins a ring and see if he fancies a comeback Wink

Look at boxers throughout history and this isnt always the case.

The problem is everybody expects British boxers to be the best in the world and have perfect records. Look at all the top belt holders and very few have clean records. Khan is 21 and lost a fight against someone more experienced. This loss is only a problem if he doesnt learn from it, if he does then it is productive.

I personally think British boxers are in too few fights and go for big money rather than average money and more fights but that's personal opinion.
