So I've just got myself a camcorder like this and wondered if it's a good idea or not to tie it to the front of my bike and record my journey for a one off...!? Question

The tank's a better place, and ideally you want a bullet cam to plug into it and stash the actual cam corder under the seat so it's out of view of the bill. It's not going to be good if you get pulled and they find you doing illegal things on the tape.

Illegal!? Why on earth would I be doing illegal things whilst filming myself!?

(Good point) Laughing

And thanks for the link Bofh5, I'll have to view it tonight since my work blocks Ebay... Rolling Eyes

You might look at those sub £100 ones that record straight onto memory card.

I think the vibration would be a problem with DVD ones and bad news all round with hard drive types.

'The best' system will be separate camera as mentioned but since you might hardly ever use it on the bike some versatility comes from the stand alone camcorder

i have one of the bullet cam types which records to SD card. currently it's fitted to the right hand side of the bike, about mid way using a tool clip (those used in your shed for handing up hammers, spades etc) and a rip tie to hold it together. then a fairing screw through the hole to secure it to the bike. works fine at very high speeds too - never come off or moved.

but, i guess as you say youv bought the camera and only a one off - then maybe your best way is to check out 'GPS warehouse' and see what they have you oculd fit, to the tank or the yoke etc.

batteries can tend to be a problem too - my camera now runs off the bike battery to stop it being a problem ... and re-chargebles dont tend to be that good for videoing stuff as the camera can run them flat very quickly - and they start with less power anyway ( 1.2v not 1.5 like 'normal' batteries .... that's for AAA anyway)
