Oops.

I'm sure there was a similar incident a year or so ago?

BBC News wrote:
A police firearms officer left a gun in the toilets of a coffee shop where it was found by a member of the public, the Metropolitan Police (Met) has said.

The firearm was left in the toilets of a branch of Starbucks in Edgware Road in central London last Friday.

The female officer concerned has now been removed from operational duties while an investigation is carried out.

Cant say im surprised, for one she was apparently "on duty" so what the flackin hell was she doing sipping coffee in starbucks? Plus, on duty or not, im of the understanding that our police do not currently walk the streets carrying guns with live ammo, the only time the guns come out is when there is actually and 'incident'.

She was probably selling it to some crack dealer and he was late in coming to pick it up. or something to that effect. I dont think a gun is something you just forget, not exactly a pair of feckin keys is it.

Hi

Bet that cured constipation for the next user of the toilet.

Not heard of that happening recently anywhere else, but there was a case about 15 years ago in Notts where a police firearms unit dropped a bag from the back of their van containing some weapons. Don't think they were ever recovered.

But they need to be comfortable with carrying a weapon. Maybe some just get too comfortable.

All the best

Keith

The funny thing to me was this story ran on the radio back to back with a story about how women arent getting into the top jobs like they used to, glass ceiling etc.

The two stories together did sort of imply that women cant cut it when it comes to little things like not leaving your gun in the loo.

Of course I dont actually believe that. Many women who get to a certain age would prefer to go off and make babies than work their way up a career ladder but the equality commission still wants more token females in high positions.

Do that in the Army and you'd be straight in the guardhouse minus your beret and belt, no messing. Never mind "suspended pending an investigation"

You understand incorrectly. Some do overtly carry guns at all times. Also is it really expected that a PC is not allowed to go to the loo for the 12hr shift?

Leaving the gun was incredibly stupid, dont get me wrong, but i dont think having a quick piss is a big deal.

A man doesnt have to remove his belt to have a piss, so women are more likely to leave their gun in a loo.

Not necessarily, I know of a certain military type that left his pistol hanging on the back of a toilet door in a certain hot and sandy place. No suspension, No double timing anywhere, and i believe this person only got a formal warning...

Said Pistol was never recovered.

A real bad error and should never have happened, but come on, everyone has forgotten something in their life. I left my lid in a hotel room once.
She should face a good hiding and not have fire arms again, but she has just shown she is human and makes mistakes, bloody big ones but still a mistake.

right thats it, not just a one off, its a pattern.

Women should no longer be issued with firearms as they can not piss without removing them, resulting in a risk of losing them.

not according to the article that mudskipper found

"An investigation into the incident is ongoing. A decision will be taken at the end of the investigation as to what the most appropriate course of disciplinary action, if any, will be taken against the individual concerned."
