Right, a mate and I have a week off of work next month and we're planning on a minor camping holiday.

I've provisionally planned somewhere south west, i.e Devon, newquay, something like that. Spend a couple of nights there. Then move onto Snowdonia (Wales) and climb Mount Snowdon.

So, anyone got any location suggestions? I'm open to staying in other locations. On the camp site front, I'm either looking for some close enough to pubs/shops to walk. Or somewhere remote enough where we can get a fire going.

If your planning on doing Snowdon then there is a couple of decent campsites near Beddgelert, one is literally a stones throw from the village which is handy as there are some decent pubs there Wink dragon rally was held at this campsite february just gone so accomdating towards bikers Wink

The other is located on the 458 towards caernarfon, about a miles walk from beddegelert.

plenty of places to stop, bunkhouses etc, loads Wink

have fun Wink

This place is supposed to be good. It's in Bettws y Coed in Snowdonia. It'll be warmer than camping!

Found a camp site at the foot of Snowdon, cheap and they're happy for us to set fire to stuff, so that's all good.

Not just to find somewhere South West-ish. It's just a trade off, because the closer to Bristol we get we closer we are to the second leg of the journey. But Bristol aint exactly a camping holiday.

I just moved away from Bristol, don't want to hurry straight back in my first week off.

Newquay is fairly high up on my list.

On my recent trip we camped in a Golf course on Dartmoor - TV cameras to hand when they came to hassle us, though, which helps.
It was near the town of 'Clearbrook' - I can well recommend the pub in the town and I reckon there's plenty of places around there you could easily enough 'wild camp' for a night or two.

Lots of tight roads around Dartmoor that can be quite fun as mostly no hedgerows, but very, very tight.

Would recomend going onto Dartmoor, setting up camp wherever you feel like it, start a fire and get drunk. No one else around.
Best of all its free Very Happy
