Bike trip Advice/Donations/Help/ ?

Hi all

Considering im 16 its huge !

But i cant pay for everything i need because im raising funds myself at fund raising events

Im calling out to people with big kind hearts to donate money/electrical goods/old bike gear for the trip ( so i dont have to spend money on those things when it could go towards the starving children in ethiopia )

Please help me because i really care about saving these children in ethiopia !!!

No harm to anyone but I cant afford to give to charity with the rising prices of everyting now and fam on the way. But all the best with it anyway.

Plus I dont trust they get the money most the time anyway. (No offence to you)

i get what you mean...but the trip is a means of raising even more money

for example...ewan mcgregor and charley boormans long way round and down both were organised to raise money for unicef

you could argue that they could have spent the money on the children in ethiopia but they used it to have an adventure while raising money

anyway....why am i putting myself through this agro ! all i wanted was to see if people would be so kind as to donate goods towards my trip...thats all

but no...i get told that the church beggs for money...well what do you expect, the church is a charity in theory, where else do you expect them to get their money

I aint saying a word about the church, even though they have more than enough and priests and nuns live here in half million pund houses and drive mercs But thats nothing to do with you. And I did click on the link.

What i mean is if you wanted to raise money for them then why are you taking money out of the funds to fund a trip? couldnt that go towards them. Did ewan and the other guy pay for this trip or did they get donators to pay for it? I tihink thats wrong.

so what it basically is is

Give me money so that I can travel on me bike, fill up with stupid petrol prices,eat,stay in hotels and I will give the change to some poor black starving kids

if poeple wanted to donate they would and someone travelling on a bike is not going to make them donate anymore I wouldnt think.

If I am wrong tell me. Its how I got that end of the stick there.

does anyone have any old bike gear that they do not need anymore that they are willing to donate towards the trip to keep the costs low

( if i dont have to pay for anything but petrol then i wont...so the amount i need to raise for funding will be about £500 )

please consider this...it would make me so happy

i already have a guy sending me a leather jacket ( very nice guy !! =D )

i just need trousers, boots, gloves and anything else you think would help

( ill be tenting the whole way round...another challenge of the trip =P so no hotel costs !! )

SCAMplata.... I mean samcaplat I think you should just raise money in your area and send it over. Fuel is mighty expensive now and considering your on a 50cc moped (you said you where 16) I don't think you will get very far fast...You can't even take motorways. All you will be seen as seems you aren't a cleb is a confidence trickster or something....Nah raise money in your area... Like bake a cake and sell it!!!!! AHH! Bake sale for the win!

if you are serious, type down what you need in terms of money, equipment and the route you will take. give us all the details etc. i am also quite surprised that a charity would let you do it solo. show us pictures of the bike you are gonna take with you etc.

you can't blame stompy legs (sorry dragonfly :p) and the rest of us to be suspicious. for all we know, you could just be a 16 year old that needs bike gear and will get it free.
