I got this for free of a family member, It doesn't run currently but there is a couple of weeks till my CBT training to sort that.

It's a little tatty too thanks to a leaking shed.

It's a 125, I believe it's a modified version of the Yamaha DT125 engine.

I'm looking for parts for it, and I can't dins sh!t. Sad

Hi

Sachs had major financial problems. Not sure if they went totally bust, but would explain why spares are a problem. They didn't sell a massive number of these (they weren't cheap, and were remarkably crude for the price they were asking).

Have you got it started yet?

All the best

Keith

I've got it sparking, There is petrol in the carb, And there is 2 stroke and everything else. It just won't fire up. It was working 2 years ago lol Sad

Is petrol getting as far as the sparkplug?

With a bike like that (rare as buggery, no parts to speak of) I'd be tempted to get it going, and then sell it for as much as you can get. While owning a rare bike is deeply cool, owning a rare bike with no available parts is just hassle in the extreme, in my opinion.

Also, what happened to the fairing at the bottom? It looks like it's been twisted outward, or something.

The fairing was attacked by the heat from the exhaust as some point, and it's just bent inward. I'm buying a fairing kit for it from Egay so that's not a problem.

My main concern is actually getting it running, lol. I see what your saying, I quite like the look of it, and unlike other 125 sportsbikes, this actually fits me.

I think I'm going to be keeping hold of it for a couple of months.

Hi

Unless the rings have stuck (low compression) then just keep trying. Might well be worth trying to bump start it.

Take it that you drained the carb when you put fresh petrol in?

All the best

Keith

I've literally done everything I can, Cleaned out the carb, New plug, New pipes etc. It had what I thought was good compression. My guy at Yamaha told me it could be crank seals, As they're common to go on DT engines? And that would be whats causing it to not start, As too much air is getting into the chamber? :S

Hi

Might be worth checking the compression (easy to check). To be honest my experience with main bearing seals is that when they go you just land up with a lousy and very high idle. Sure if they were really trashed I would expect far worse but not straight off.

All the best

Keith
