Well somehow i managed to cause a small crack in my front disc brake. Shocked

Got the bike over at Seastars (top place), they gave the bike a once over for me prior to the MOT and they noticed the crack.

I was suprised at first obviously, but apparantly heat does cause this to happen often. Ive had my bike since 1k miles and im now on 17k.

So is replacing front discs something thats the norm?

(Cost me £60 from Honda for a new front disc so im not too bothered!)

try not to use the brakes too heavy when you know it's the end of your journey, let them cool a bit first Thumbs Up

Look stop using locking compound on your disc bolts and the problem goes away!..

The locking compound acts as a heat barrier for the brake disc to conduct its heat into the wheel , cast wheels can act as huge heat sinks its a good 15 kilos of metal.

My NTV front brake seized and I rode her into work for 2 weeks a combo of motorway A roads and inner city roads 20 miles each way.

It got so hot sometimes my brakes faded away and I once cooked off my (oil) brake fluid.

The disc is still fine.

there is enough disc against the wheel to dissipate heat.
i wouldn't want the heat to work the bolts loose Confused

It won't. Itchy is right, most warped discs are caused by using too much threadlock. Don't believe it, phone ABE and ask.

Have you been reading what I write again Itchy?
