The Hornet 600 seems to get a good write-up , but the 900 doesn't.

Is it just a case of the 900(old Fireblade engine?) not bringing anything extra to the party or is it that the chassis is more suited to the smaller engine?

I also hear that fuel range isn't good. Is it true and is it a problem?
-If so, is a bigger tank easily sourced?

Cheers

I think that the 900 is a great bike. Pulls good wheelies and rides way better than the Fazer 1000 or 1200 bandit of a similar age.

Might be wrong on this but I think it didn't sell well because of a high insurance group.

That sounds like I'd expected it to be.

Is insurance particularly high then?

I have a hornet 600. Its my first big bike so im not really in any position to compare, but i've not had any problems with it, and the fuel range isnt the best but its not a problem. I fill my Tank up on about £10.00 give or take and that will get me 130 - 140 miles in which time i will find a garage and fill up. It will probably do about 160 if i went into the reserve. I have the 17 litre tank.

£10 = 9.1 Litres

140 miles
=140/9.1 = 15.4 miles/litre

~70mpg

-That seems much better than expected.

What are the major differences between the Hornet 900 and the Fireblade 900 engine?

Just filled mine up
128 miles, £16 to fill it up
Fuel warning light had been on 5 or so miles
mine is the 17 litre tank

Depends how you ride it, on a hornet forum someone posted they managed to get it down to 70 miles to a tank on a track

Embarassed my bad... £15.00 is what i usually fill up with. That does me the 130 miles. My fuel warning light is shit, it comes on as i am actually out of petrol and then have to switch to reserve not good when your going up a hill.
