Right, first off, my moped is going in for MOT in two weeks - is there anything I particularly need to look out for? Bearing in mind my dad is a qualified mecanic, and will give it a once over before hand.

One of my mirrors is shattered, so both are currently off the bike.

Tyres are looking fine, definitely above the treadline.

My right rear indicatior casing has a crack and a small peice of plastic missing, but still works and it is clear that it is an indicator.

all electronics are fine, and generally the bike is sound.

So, any help would be greatly appreciated Smile

Secondly, As it is coming up to my 17th (November) I need to start making serious decisions regarding a future bike. My A2 will probably cost roughly 300-350 quid, and the Theory is 30 quid. So that leaves me with roughly A grand and a half for a bigger bike AND insurance.

I have had my mind set on an SV650, but I dont want, say, a 1996 model because I dont like the look. Bandits are nice, albeit more expensive.

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks again Very Happy

the indicator will fail if any white light is visable whilst it is operating, if it is only a small hole cover it with some tape (peferably orange, but any colour as long as it does not obscure the lens too much).

can't be much help on big bikes as i've only just past my test a month ago.

MOT as said just check the indicator over a bit, im sure your dad knows what he's doing though.

Secondly, a grand a half isn't much for a bike AND insurance. Bear in mind your looking at 17 years old in a decent area with 1 years NCB probably around 500 quid TPFT. Thats for a bike registered around the late 90's.

You'll be looking at pre-2000 bikes if it's a 600 your after, there are all sorts of bikes though really. Hornet, bandit, SV650, CB500, CB250, GS500, DRZ400, Divvys and finally fazers are the main ones that stick out in my head.

Just remember when your buying to factor in service costs and the price of tyres. £200 for a new set of tyres and they'll run out much faster than on your 'ped so make sure you have enough money a few months/6 months later to get some nice new rubbers. Thumbs Up
