There are 16,200 registered motorbike owners in South Yorkshire. The county has some of the most beautiful, but dangerous, roads in Britain. Bikers from all over the UK, not just locals, flood into South Yorkshire during the summer months to enjoy themselves. But an unacceptable number of them end up either dead or injured as a result of crashes. Last year, 15 bikers died and almost 500 were hurt in South Yorkshire.
It's the traffic cops who have to deal with both the influx and the carnage and this week, on the BBC One police docu-soap, Traffic Cops, they come against a whole series of problems on two wheels. In Rotherham, a teenager who's stolen a moped leads a convoy of cops in high speed patrol cars through a pedestrian centre putting himself and hundreds of shoppers at risk. In Sheffield, an audacious off-road-biker goes for broke in a midnight chase through fields and gardens before being caught red handed. While on the open road a biker dies when he runs into a tractor, sparking a 'how did this happen?' mystery story. Another biker dies when he is mown down by a hit-and-run van. And even the traffic cops themselves find the attraction of two wheels nearly disasterous - the Blue Knights, a group of motorbike-riding traffic cops get themselves into a spot of bother with local insects when one of their group crashes and breaks a leg.

Was kind of off-putting to see the safest possible rider (instructor of bikecops) crash whilst going 50mph in a straight line, and end up injuring his pillion.

He probably dropped it at low speed coz his pillion was fucking about and she broke her leg as it was a Pan Euro which landed on her which weighs about 2 tons and once it starts to topple not even the incredible hulk could stop it.

Just as they were slowly approaching the traffic lights.
...the moral of the story is....dont take pillions...they just get in the way of proper rides!
