Hoping that its worth putting a bit money into, Its an old packard bell thats pretty slow (Down to hardware i reckon, Could be as it came with 2000 but running a slightly modded XP now)

Theres a 40gb HDD in it (dont really need a bigger one i dont think), An intel celeron processor and i cant remember the memory size but i'll assume its bad as videos play choppy and im always being told its increasing the virtual memory (CPU usage and PF usage are always pretty high)

I only use it for the internet, playing music/videos and windows live so not looking for mega spec, Any advice on what to do with it? (As in running a bit more stable and quicker)

Much appreciated Thumbs Up Karma

cheapest option is to up the memory as high as your motherboard will go and reload xp. the xp service packs need a lot of memory to run properly.
if it was me i would reload xp and see how it goes, memory is plug and play so you can add that any time Thumbs Up

Try the RAM as it is cheap, however if your videos aren't playing well there is always the chance that the CPU is unable to cope.

What is your budget? There is a good chance with the price of PC's that you could get a decent one for little money.

No need to reload the O/S until you have given it a good clean and scan, why make more work for yourself. CCleaner and all the antispy programs in the sticky.

What's using the highest resources in task manager?

I'm not really sure I would spend any money on a PC thats old. Get the RAM up to 2gb as it will benifit XP to have more RAM. Run Scandisc and De-Frag the hard drive. Other than that I would just look at buying a new PC as its not worth spending much money on.
