I just brought a dt125 05 plate and a few things are going wrong, thought you lot could help me.
1st theres oil flooding out of the where the exhaust meets the engine. don,t know if this is normal but it was smoking today off the hot exhaust. but the bike shop said it was because it was a 2stroke, im not sure. It dosent look right as the connection is metal to metal, is that right. Its a DEP pipe.
2nd the electric start dosent work, it just clicks where the battery is, i belive its the fuse, but still not sure. Yamaha said it was the starter solenoid, wondering if anyone else had a simular problem.
3rd when i hit higher revs and then let go of the throttle there is a really loud rattling sound coming from the engine, thought it might be something in the dep pipe. Its got 8860 miles on it and de restricted, so needs a top end rebuild soonish, could this be the cause?

1. Where the exhaust meets the engine there should be a paper gasket in between the two to help the seal it and stop any air/oil leaks.
2. Not sure mate, sorry.
3. You absolutely sure its coming from the engine?? Not a loose bolt rattling about?? BUT rattling engines are not good, first port of call would be to do a compression test. You can buy these testers from ebay, halfords etc but make sure its for a petrol engine. If possible try not to ride the bike until its sorted.
I'd advise getting a friend with mechanical knowledge to give you a hand or taking it a garage. Not sorting it out would be a false economy.
