Laptop internet help pleeeeeeeease

Ok, as per the title i have bought a new laptop and could do with some help. I am trying to set it up and use the existing Internet connection that i have on this laptop. Now, the problem...it is asking me for settings as provided by the ISP, however i dont know these settings as my flatmate set it all up..

The question, is there any way of finding this information out or otherwise connecting the new laptop to the net or am i gonna have to wait for my flatmate to turn up ?? Obviously i want to get my new toy working NOW....

How does your existing one connect? USB Modem, Wireless or Wired ethernet?

In that case you should just be able to plug it in and off you go.

If I remember correctly in the internet connection wizard just select a service that is always on and select ethernet, or skip that section completely.

You are selecting the wrong option then if that's the case.
