PostPosted: 19:54 - 23 Sep 2008    Post subject: crash due to stupid mistake. Reply with quote

Well today i decided to go for a ride, as i left my house i accelerated to go up the street. went from 1st to 3rd and felt the front wheel start to hover, as i closed the throttle nothing happened and the bike continued to speed up, pulled the clutch in but it was too late was around 40 - 50 mph then bang, hit a wall and bike flew off to the left dragging me up the road, my new siddi boots are a bit melted, the sides and my jacket is ripped along the arms, made it through to the armor but the knox protectors put up a good fight, as for bike; right side is all scraped with a snapped front pipe, front forks seem to be a bit twisted, bars left side is up right side is down, front and back wheel buckled. one more lesson learned the hard way,

ride safe dodge

They do and I have a six inch scar up my left arm from a wall but that was the outcome of some stupidity not the stupidity itself. Why did your motorcycle decide to go into a wall and what was your mistaken imput into the situation?

Did you try to slow down?

How about emergency stop, or maybe not at that speed?

I had a stuck throttle once, water in the cable used to freeze. Embarassed

Caused internal bleeding once when it stuck and I demolished a neighbours fence. Laughing .

And a kill switch.

slam on the anchors and clutch in then kill switch.. I wouldnt f**k about if that happened to me again..

I was standing up once riding speedhumps going up a steep hill and ive done it loads but one time the throttle seemed to jammed open. It was scary an sh*t me up big big time but i figured that I was over gripping the throttle so when I thought i was closing it I was infact leaving it half open still.. Try that when your in the powerband...

Anyhow hope you didnt hurt yourself too badly and now sell me your salvaged parts... Mr. Green

Just so you know, I rated this cool not because I'm glad you came off but because it makes a nice change to see someone man up to the fact he made a mistake, no diesel or teleporting kittens.

Glad you're well enough to be posting it and hope a new bike comes along soon, one word to remember though. Maintenance Wink

My Dad was telling me about an incident he had back before killswitches were commonplace (in the 70s). He was on a big single (possibly 650) and the throttle jammed open. The only way he could stop it before the junction that was coming up was to reach down and disconnect the spark plug.
