Fixed Penalty...Can I Appeal?

on my way home the other night i got stopped for my small no. plate (it's not hideously small but a one liner). i was well within the speed limit doing nothing wrong but the police still decided i was worth the effort of a pull and check. they gave me a £30 fixed penalty and were so fucking arrogant. them: "do you have any speeding convictions sir" me: "no" them: "thats because your number plate is so small the speed cameras cannot read it"

anyway on my ticket they have got the town they stopped me in wrong. if anyone knows it i was in st leonards and the ticket says hastings (they are both separate towns next to each other). is it worth appealing against it as the ticket is factually incorrect or should i just pay up and forget it.

No matter what they will say your bike is not road legal your not going to gain anything but risk losing quite a few £££££'s

Well, I always say if you don't want police attention then don't use/buy a small numberplate. It is the worst thing you can do apart fom wheelie past a police car really... that and have a stupidly earbleedingly loud exhaust.

Personally I prefer having a road legal exhaust and a normal sized numberplate because it means you're more likely to get away with doing things that make biking fun such as speeding, and that make biking safer such as using a dark visor.

I'd much rather be able to get away with 10mph over the limit and a dark visor than having a 'good looking' numberplate and a loud exhaust.

thanks for all your replies. looks like i will pay up. just a bit pissed off as i'm sure they have better things to do than stop a bike being riden sensibly but with a small plate. i would have no argument if i was speeding as well.

I had a argument with one (with him shouting at me) over no mirrors on my XR650R, stupid cu*t did,nt understand "not a legal requirement" and "not fitted on this type/model of bike" Rolling Eyes

Would have been nice to say "or maybe because i don't speed" or something along them lines. Just to shut them up, but they would of then probably found something else to do you for.

I hate uncalled for thing like that though. Its like there just trying to get you to react
