Do you find that children seem attracted to your bikes? Or is it just me this keeps happening to? Every time I'm out cleaning my bikes, I always have children wondering toward me. Today I had to put up with a mother cooing to her girl, "that's a big bike. Look it's red" etc when I was tinkering with my ybr. Is this something others have found?

How do you find children are with your bikes?

I got a "Pull a wheelie!" request from a 10 year old when I was on my Sachs. I felt like saying if I could wheelie it, I wouldn't be using 2 wheels now!

The Trike is great - there is a pretty even split in children between mouth wide open stunned reaction and bursting into tears

But then it does have straight through pipes... Smile

I was on my DAS and had some younger kiddies (probably about 4 or 5 years old) waving at me and the other learner!

We waved back and they had the biggest grins I've ever seen! Cool

Aye, I often get kids looking at me when I am on my bike. Give them a wave etc just because I loved getting a wave from a bikers when I was a little kid.

I remember when blasting past a young girl and her dad on my RS125 seeing the girl put her hands over her ears. So they don't always like bikes... Twisted Evil

Yeah - the ones in the cars amuse me the most, you pull up alongside them and smile, and then poke yer tongue out.

Some (the smaller ones) aren't sure, and you can see their little lips wobble. Then ya wave at 'em and they give you a gappy grin.

I like it when you can see them say "Mum/Dad, that lady on the bike poked her tongue out at me!", but by the time their parents look round, I'm usually smiling and waving back.

Here's one of my favourite pieces of artwork about bikers and kids:

There were a couple of kids who lived on my road who always shouted "Motorbike" when they saw me getting on in the morning. Also, my sister loves sitting on my bike and playing with the throttle. The other thing I get quite often is kids motioning me to rev up when I go past.

My youngest lass (4) bike-spots on the commute to nursery.

'What's that bike called?' Is it a Jinja? (Ninja Laughing )

It's cool to be able to say 'that's a GIXXER' or 'it's a BANDIT'

'That's a CBR600F steelie' doesn't quite have the same ring though. But I like to be accurate and informative...

the other day when I was covering my bike up a little kid with his mother who lives opposite stopped and pointed out I was covering it up, I was fairly impressed by the cognitive ability for his age to construct the statement. (Reading that back seems rather ironic)

Parking up once, a couple of kids came over. They both looked about 8-10ish, one was quiet and the other chatty :-

Kid : Is that yours?
Me : Yep, it's mine
Kid : How fast does it go?
Me : I've had it up to 115
Kid looks thoughtful
Kid : How much did it cost?
Me : I bought it for 750 quid
Kid looks thoughtful
Kid : That's quite reasonable, isn't it?

Bit surreal, and better than the "Giss a go, mister!" I was expecting.

kid: 'Scuooze me? How big is it?'
me: 'it's a 400'
other kid: 'only a 400, look its only a V4'

made me laugh Laughing

My neighbours' kids always want to sit on my bike when it's just been cleaned and sat on the driveway. I'm so tempted to tell them to take their shoes off first so they don't scratch it and go in and wash their sticky hands!

Had some young girls (13) come up to me at the petrol station and question me to within an inch of my life as they hadn't seen a female bike rider on anything other than a ped...apparently! Me thinks they don't know the difference with lids on! Shocked

If they're polite I always take the time out to chat or wave and indulge them - it's a big deal in their world and no big hassle for me! Then again I don't have any kids, so I always find them fascinating - novelty factor! Rolling Eyes

I think what we have to understand as a group is that BIKES ARE COOL! Cool

Kids don't often get the chance to see them up close and so they tend to get a little over excited when they do. Consider that normally we pass them at XXX speeds and they get to see the quickest flash of green/red/black whatever.

Also remember that kids have no social boundaries, how often have you been approached by kids asking random questions, regardless of what you are doing at the time?!

Normally I will pander to their curiosity for a while and then make moves to leave, although I have had to tell one kid to pi$$ off! Laughing

Encourage these kids a bit, they might be our next generation!

I tend to get kids doing a throttle movement with there hand, so slip it in to neutral or hold in the clutch give it a few revs to keep them happy. And I constantly get women with prams pointing at me and telling there kid to look....Sadly no tears yet Razz
