Hello, I'm going to start out by telling you the purpose of my bike. Since the economy is so bad, and gas prices are out of the roof, I'd like to buy a very fuel efficient vehicle. My choice is a bike with a 49cc 4-stroke motor. I'll be using it to get to work and school most of the time. On the weekends, I'd like to ride around with a buddy. Occasionally, I want to take a normal bike ride, without activating my motor and when I do, I want a smooth, vigorous ride (probably need 21 gears for this).
Alright, let me walk you through the bike specs that I need.
--------------
First, I want to start out with a basic bike (preferably a mountain bike with 21 gears)
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-Ridge-Mens-Mountain-Bike/dp/B000J5B4CY
Second, I want to put a 49cc 4-stroke motor on it.
Something like this: https://www.scootersplus.biz/dui.html
Third, I want to have a safe way to carry a passenger (now this is when things get complicated).
I found out that you can't put pegs on a mountain bike, and they are unsafe (source: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070407103555AAWLTNO)
Tandem bikes would probably be out of the question, since I need independence and maintain good gas mileage. (Plus a motor kit probably wouldn't work on one of these.)
Can anyone help me find the special match for me?
Thanks,

Interesting idea and everything but having something like that here in the Uk is completely pointless, on the public roads anyway. If its got an engine and wheels then its classed as a vehicle - Meaning it has to be road safe, taxed, taxed, taxed, taxed a little more and then insured.
I think its a good idea, but I prefer my big 600cc. ____________________ DAS Passed 19th April 08. 07' YBR125 > Yamaha FZ6 S2 '08 > 1998 YZF600R ThunderCat |
