Dual router DNS problems

I'm a bit stuck so I'm asking for some help from you guys here as hopefully someone knows more than me on this.

I couldn't be bothered to do a paint diagram so I did one on my whiteboard instead to explain what I'm trying to do.

Basically DSL goes in to the O2 router where everyone gets their internet wirelessly. Then using a mains power plug the internet gets transferred to my room where it connects to my netgear DGN router. Which is used to wirelessly connect to my laptop and my PC can connect wirelessly or through a lan cable either works.

Now for the problem, when my router is running occasionally those connecting to the O2 router end up getting passed to my netgear router which can't share the internet through the path they are taking. The laptops/pc's say they are having DNS problems, if I removed the DGN router from the equation they are able to get to the internet instantly.

I'm not sure how to resolve this, do I change my DGN routers DNS settings? Or is it something to do with NAT?

Any help would be fantastic .

Easiest thing to do, if you're problems are definately DNS, would be to ensure there's only one DNS server on the network (pass DNS requests through the other router if needed), but that depends on how you're network is configured.

What are your IP ranges? do you use statics or DHCP? do your routers have any other advanced features or are they both pretty basic?

Might be able to help with a bit more info.

Both routers are set to automatically configure everything and both use dchp. The O2 unit isn't very user friendly and I can't do anything to it, but the DGN2000 in my room I can change everything on it, there are a lot of settings.

You'd be better off with an access point than a second router, but you should be able to get it to work by forgetting about the routing functions.

Set the second router up manually. Give it a LAN IP address on the same subnet as the main router (eg 192.168.0.2) and turn DHCP off. Tell the first router to issue IP's starting from 192.168.0.3 and above. Use the same WiFi name/password as the other router and have one on channel 1 and the second on channel 11. Your computers will then all get their IP address (and DNS settings) from the first router no matter which they connect to.
