2003 Honda CB1000

Hello boys and girls.

The old man's currently looking at one of the afore mentioned and he's just emailed me a piccy of the said beasty.

Anything in particular to look out for? If he gets it I'll be giving it a good going over when I go back for Christmas (Oil and filter, fork seals and new fork oil, valve clearances, balance carbs and new plugs. Any ideas on how hard the dent should be to fill/pull out (done by professionals obviously) and a rough idea of cost?

Also, the biggest bike he's ever ridden is a BMW R1100GS, how do you reckon he'll find a 1000 4 pot beastie like this? I don't want him to shit a brick, I want him to buy it, slightly selfish I know but I quite fancy buying it when he brings it back here.

So, bike is on the table for a sniff under £1500, deal or no deal?

Well that's what I thought but my dad seems pretty convinced it's a thou. I couldn't find any other pics of one on google or bikepics. I reckon I'm gonna get him to get the engine and frame number for me so I can check it out.

Your dad is right. Pretty good bikes for general going about. Definately a 1000cc.

Engine is quite torquey but surprisingly placid. Good for touring as quite comfy, quite a big beast to push about but I could manage it quite well. A good all round reliable bike, nothing special.

Thanks Reuben, how can you tell that it is 1000, looks like quite a big lump and I really can't find any info on them on the interweb.

First off it has a different tail section, more duck like on the 1000. 1300 had different tail light. Theyre completely different bikes. Easiest way is to look at the cc stamped on the side of the engine!
