Last night I picked up my new bike Very Happy

it's a gorgeous little ZXR400 L9, with only 7500 miles on it, looks pretty mint- i can't personally see any sign of it being dropped at all..

Here's a pic from the ebay ad, thought i'ld share....

Fun times ahead Very Happy[/img]

Had its bigger brother and loved it so can only imagine all that fun in a smaller frame will be just as good.

Yup- thats the one... Was over there last night picking it up and they got shed loads of phonecalls enquiring about it lol

It wasn't actually based in Epping as it was the bike owner's mate who had put it up on Ebay.

Got one myself (L5) 1995 with 25k miles, 33 bhp restricted, although I cant compare it to much, it is a nice ride. How much you pay?

Now what advice can I give from riding mine lol.. hm.. you can start it with the stand down (think on some newer bikes you cant) so its easy to move off with it down but it will stall if its down. The rear brakes are usually abit lost on these bikes (need to apply them quite hard to get and braking from the back). Theres nothing really there at low rev's (around 4k rpm) but puts up alot past 6k Thumbs Up
It's alot bigger than the nc30 (yun's bike) which I find helpful although I have, and you probably will, drop it while standing still (it's REALLY heavy). What I found slightly hard to get used to on it was turning (especially at junctions). Because unlike on the CG I learnt on, when I pulled full lock to the right for example, my hand would get traped/ wouldnt have enough room to give it enough gas to move off, so give yourself enough room to turn/ lean to manouver. Also positioning your hand further around the grip so you can still pull it back does help (but this is my first sports bike so I'm not sure if this is a common problem!). It takes passangers reasonably well, although I found the suspension abit 'stiff' to begin with, I'm used to it now aswell as the back positioning and the little wrist pains you get lol. I've had a few problems with the gear linkage (bar that goes from the peg to change gears to the engine area lol) but that might just be my bike and not all these bikes but generally these 400's are all thrashed to bits soo yea lol. Ow and last night I found that riding home I couldnt see the lower speeds on the dial as the light lighting it up was low on the bottom half of the dial.. again might just be my bike lol but yea, enjoy it and if I can help let me know, I'll probably find more problems that I can help/sympathise with haha xD

have fun! Thumbs Up

Cool, thanks for the words... I have noticed it's slow to pull away but once you've got it in the higher revs it's a hell of a lot of fun.... That's a difference between the v4 engines (like Yuns) and my zxr4. The power delivery in Yuns v4 is constant where as mine kicks in at later revs...

I did do a couple roundabouts wide on the way home, but i'm sure i will adjust. It's just a completely new riding position at the moment- although I do like it, its rather snug.... makes me feel a bit more as 'one' with it... Very Happy

Also noticed suspension was a little stiff but nothing i was too worried about as I still have to get used to it... I've only ridden it 30 miles so far lol

The first owner was an old-ish bloke, who sold it to his even older mate. He couldn't get used to the riding position and decided to sell. It's an unrestricted 2000 model so only 8 years old and has 7500 miles and i'm pretty sure it hasn't been ragged much. I paid 1700 for it in the end... What do you think of that price? He was after 2000 at first!!

I won't be taking any pillions, they just slow me down! lol I'm actually lower on the ground compared to Yun's VFR.... we've lowered the ride height and suspension.. I am sure we will have plenty of words to exchange once i get going on it Very Happy

IIRC its the same frame as the 750, just the other cycle parts that make the difference, so the 750 engine will still fit...

i went to view it on Friday last week but I couldn't really afford the £2000 they were asking for. I had my heart set on it the moment i laid eyes on it and gladly it was still available.

I paid 1700 for it in the end, but the wife and husband had a bit of a soft spot for me... the wife said i should have it cheaper because i was a girl, and us girls stick together lol I put in my offer yesterday and they accepted.
